About this product

After a string of rambunctious, critically acclaimed singles, Oscar is delighted to announce that his hotly anticipated debut LP, Cut and Paste. You can hear the clear influence of a West London upbringing in the basement rhythm of InchBe GoodInch or the dub bass line and echo of the anthem, uplifting InchGood ThingsInch. You're hit by the boom-bap break beat of his beloved mid-90s hip hop on InchBreaking My PhoneInch and InchBeautiful WordsInch, before swooning to his more tender side on InchOnly FriendInch, where Oscar is joined by Marika Hackman for a gorgeous duet over a sea of bubbling synths, or InchFifteenInch, an addictive love song, ragged at the edges and wearing it's heart defiantly on it's sleeve. Despite the wide range of influences on display, the album is unified by Scheller's beautiful baritone vocal and his keen ear for a melody. And although self-produced, the resulting album by no means contains the average lo-fi, crackly sound one might expect from someone tagged as a Inchbedroom producerInch. Choosing the strongest songs from the demos that originally attracted Wichita to his music, Scheller set about re-recording the vast majority of the elements at home - not missing the opportunity to step into a proper studio to add live drums (played by his drummer, Aramis Gorriette), alongside his own drum machine programming and sampled breaks for the first time. These new recordings were then passed on to Ben Baptie (Adele, Mark Ronson, Lianne La Havas, Albert Hammond Jr. Etc.) to be mixed and to have the dub-influence turned up further with the subtle echo effects that you can hear throughout if you listen carefully. Overall, Cut and Paste is the sound of a new musical prodigy well and truly arriving, and a more than worthy addition to the lineage of eccentric, classic British pop.

Waldrop - Time Frames - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

... infused with influences from minimalism, popular music, and other styles and genres, but always informed with musical sensibility, harmonic sophistication and intelligence. Most importantly, Michael Waldrop is both a lifelong fan and staunch devotee of both mallet keyboard percussion and all things drumming. - Gordon Stout. While featuring the marimba as a melodic instrument throughout InchTime Frames,Inch percussionist Michael Waldrop fully celebrates it's origins as an African percussion instrument, creating provocative rhythmic undercurrents to offset his soaring melodies and improvisations. Surrounding himself with other renowned and musically diverse percussionists Gordon Stout, Brad Dutz, Jose Rossy and Marko Djordjevic, the heightened rhythmic colorings propel Waldrop's five original compositions. Jack Cooper's expansive InchThree Mediterranean ViewsInch gives space to pianist Steve Snyder, while two drum sets provide the hurricane power behind InchKatrina's Path.Inch Famed marimbist Gordon Stout's InchIncomingInch is a virtuosic study for himself on marimba and Waldrop on drum set. Stylistically vast - from delicate, classical chamber music, to intricate, groove-laden marimba and percussion atmospheres, or ferocious waves of drums - InchTime FramesInch retains a musical center, one that revels in the deep, fundamental human connection to rhythm.

The FMs - 51122 - VINYL LP

Produced by the legendary David Werner and inspired by lo-fi dream pop, classic new wave and disco, 51122 follows PINK + BLACK, their sophomore record released earlier this year to acclaim from NY Daily News, MetroWeekly, GLAAD, Mundane Magazine, New Noise Magazine, and beyond. 51122 corresponds with May 11, 2022 - the day that Frankie Rex, founding member of The Fms, passed away from a fentanyl overdose.

Oscar Moore - Presenting Oscar Moore - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This rare Oscar Moore recording was one of the few he made in stereo. Recorded for Omega in 1957, it combines Oscar with Leroy Vinegar on bass. This remained unreleased in all other formats due to some problems in the recording. It seems that Oscar accompanied himself via overdubbing. Something went wrong. The result was mud. However, with digital enhancement, the sound has been recovered and everything can now be heard. This is some fine Oscar Moore playing, which no fan of jazz guitar will want to miss.
