Model Information ABYSS CRAWLER is a third-gen HEXA GEAR developed by the Liberty Alliance. It was developed to explore and control blocked terrain such as culverts. Unlike other third-gen HEXA GEAR, it has two Zoatex modes and is characterized by its continuous use of Zoatex. At the beginning of the war, cities were raided by unmanned HEXA GEAR called HIDESTORMs. Further investigations uncovered numerous ginormous underground tunnels and facilities from the past that were used to carry out these attacks. As such, the Liberty Alliance urgently required a full-scale survey. However, all information about the geological patterns of these underground structures barring simple outlines, was lost, and to make matters worse, the areas had already fallen into enemy hands, with MSG Valiant Force HEXA GEARS and droids roaming the tunnels. Hidestorms, with their capabilities in electronic warfare thanks to their VIC Blades and other weapons, greatly threatened the Liberty Alliance's coordination from underground by exposing communication lines, repeaters, and power lines that connected the cities. Liberty Alliance realized the need to take back the underground tunnels and hastily developed a HEXA GEAR unit with the express purpose of taking on the task. In developing the unit, the wreckage of the destroyed Hidestorm was recovered and its frame was repurposed and reused. However, as there was little prospect of reproducing the capabilities of the VIC Blade, or controlling or disabling it, the next best countermeasure was taken. The result was the creation of the Invasion Counter Shield, commonly known as ICS, equipped on the left arm of every unit. Due to a chronic shortage of parts, only a small number of these units were produced and subsequently sent into the darkness of the underground tunnels in squads.
