RØDE - VIDEOMIC ME-C+ Directional Microphone for USB-C Mobile Devices - Black

I bought this mic to help me use the Merlin Bird ID app to identify birds by their songs and calls. Since plugging the mic directly into my phone (an iPhone 16 Pro) was impractical, I had to use a usb-c female to female adapter then use a standard usb-c cable to connect the mic to my phone (see my note below). I found that using this mic, did provide advantages over simply using the Merlin app with the built-in mic. It's difficult to perform a true A-B comparison, but Merlin seemed to identify more birds when I use this external mic. I am also able to keep the phone in my pocket. I attached the mic to my hat (yes, I look like a nerd, but it works)! NOTE: To anyone who wants to use a usb-c adapter for any type of usb-c connection, it seems that the orientation (I hesitate to call it polarity) of the cable connection is important. One of the advantages of usb-c is that it doesn't matter which way the cable is turned, but when you use an adapter, that is no longer the case. You may need to flip the cable in order to get whatever you're connecting to work, I'm not sure, but this may not matter if you're just charging and not passing data.

I record videos everyday! And I just love how easy it is to sound so professional. I especially love the size! It fits in my bag, so its perfect to take everywhere. Even in loud places, it focuses on my voice!

This is a perfect product, it was exactly what I was looking for.

This is a good quality mic, better used for ASMR than speaking

Awesome sound quality from this little mic. Kept me from needing a ton of external attachments for better sound in family videos.
