Enjott Schneider is one of the most productive and successful composers of our time. Instead of chasing after the elusive goal of progressivity like many of his colleagues, he looks for common ground with people of different cultures, for universal musical values that transcend geography and history. Schneider first achieved international fame as the composer of hundreds of scores for films such as InchHerbstmilchInch (1989), InchSchlafes BruderInch (1995), or InchBibi Blocksberg und das Geheimnis der blauen EulenInch (2004), but his orchestral works also have a richly varied narrative quality that is documented in WERGO' s series of recordings dedicated to his music. Featuring internationally acclaimed soloists Lukasz Dlugosz and - in the double concerto - Agata Kielar-Dlugosz, this newest recording presents multi-faceted compositions for flute and orchestra. Common to all of them is a narrative tone that evokes the spirit of forests and water as well as the legendary ancient Chinese concubine and Imperial consort Yang Guifei, who is credited with the cultivation and popularization of flute playing in courtly circles. The Asian atmosphere of the final work on the recording creates a bridge to the double concerto at the beginning, where InchwaterInch is explicitly used as a metaphor for Daoism. Western symphonic music is united here with Chinese harmonies and melodic shapes. Album Tracks 1. Water - Element of Infinity Concerto for two flutes and orchestra~I. Water Is the Way of Dao 2. The classical figures of Medea and Lysistrata have captivated creative artists for centuries. The latest of them is Steingrímur Rohloff, an Icelandic-German composer who found his sensual, crystal-clear musical voice while studying with Gerard Griséy in Paris. The specially configured music recorded here benefits from Tuva Semmingsen's ravishing voice and Rohloff's decade of collaboration with Esbjerg Ensemble - to beautiful, resonant and dramatic effect. The Icelandic-German composer Steingrimur Rohloff is one of the most prominent young Scandinavian composers, and his works have been performed in more than 25 countries worldwide. He studied in Cologne and in Paris at the Conservatoire Superieur and the IRCAM with Gérard Grisey and Marc-André Dalbavie among others; this French school of crystalline orchestral music has influenced Rohloff profoundly. Among Rohloff's many awards is the prestigious B.A. Zimmermann Award, which he won whilst living in Germany. The jury described his music as Inchof an original fantasy... exciting melodic creativity... colorful harmonies...Inch Album Tracks 1. Médée Quel Prix de Mon Amourquel Prix de Mon Amour 2.
