About this product

Giovanni Antonini has been recording the complete symphonies of Joseph Haydn with the Alpha tag for more than five years. Now the series is enriched by another monument by the Austrian composer Die Schöpfung (The Creation), recorded in 2019 with the Bavarian Radio Chorus and his own orchestra, Il Giardino Armonico. This great oratorio was inspired by those of Handel, which Haydn heard performed by very large forces during his visits to England. The Creation, composed between September 1796 and April 1798, demanded such a colossal effort of him that he even fell ill just after it's first performance; but the work enjoyed immense success. The marriage between the Bavarian chorus, so familiar with this masterpiece, and the period-instrument musicians of Il Giardino Armonico works perfectly, with a vocal trio composed of leading soloists Anna Lucia Richter, Maximilian Schmitt and Florian Boesch.

Rundfunk-Chor Leipzig Kassowitz Folker Jahoda Siegl Janssen Klemm Bstandig - Die Schone - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

BELLE LURETTE is Jacques Offenbach's last work. He did not get to see or hear the world premiere or that of his fantastic opera InchHoffmanns ErzählungenInch, which he worked on at the same time. This publication is a recording by Radio Leipzig from 1958. The tapes were only rediscovered in the archive in the summer of 2019 and are thus offered for the very first time on album. The performance features top GDR radio stars, the Grand Radio Orchestra and the Leipzig Radio Choir under the musical direction of Vienna conductor Gottfried Kassowitz, who makes the score sparkle with precision and transparency, yet with great temperament. The arrangement by Walter Zimmer is characterized by subtle interventions and allows all music numbers to be played, with three exceptions. The encore section has been extended to include 10 music numbers from the French O.R.T.F. production of 1965, making it possible to make meaningful comparisons between the original version and the German version. The accompanying text is by Matthias Käther, well-known and popular, among other things, for his music broadcasts on Radio rbb Kultur (InchOpernführerInch and others).

Chor Des Bayerischen Rundfunks Muenchner Rundfunkorchester Repusic - Attila - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Following Giuseppe Verdi's InchLuisa MillerInch, with which Ivan Repušic made his debut as principal conductor of the Münchner Rundfunkorchester in September 2017, and InchI due FoscariInch in October 2018, the conductor's successful cycle of early masterpieces by the famous Italian opera composer now continues with InchAttilaInch. In the recording of the concert performance from the Prinzregententheater, outstanding performers provide authentic fluidity and vocal splendor. This highlight of Munich musical life from the end of last year is now already being released on BR-KLASSIK as a double album. Like it's predecessors InchNabuccoInch and InchI LombardiInch, Verdi's early masterpiece InchAttilaInch is a choral opera in the best sense, and gained an enthusiastic reception from the Italian unification movement it's themes reflected the aspirations of the Risorgimento in the restless Italy of that time. The line InchAvrai tu l'universo, resti l'Italia a meInch (InchYou may have the universe, but let Italy remain mineInch) was enthusiastically received right from the start, helping to pave the way for the opera on the stages of Italy and Europe. It was not only the audience at the premiere at the Teatro La Fenice in Habsburg-ruled Venice who understood the full import of those words. Hardly any other opera by Verdi was received in Italy with so much euphoria. Outside the country, of course, it failed to make a lasting impression - probably also due to the extremely difficult role of Odabella.
