Q: Does the adhesive damage ti door you put it on? I'm interested in using it on the inside of the door
A: The adhesive on the Safety 1st OutSmart Lever Lock is designed to attach to the door and be removed after use without causing damage.
Q: Does this hinder someone from the other side of the door from opening the door?
A: If the locking mechanism is installed properly and NOT locked (closed, it's like a clamp kind of thing), then you will have no problem opening the door, regardless of what side you're on. However, if the lock is closed, you will NOT be able to open the door from either side. AND if you're unfortunately on the side of the door that doesn't have the locking mechanism while it engaged (locked/closed), you will be STUCK until a person who knows how to unlock it comes along! We got ours because we have very smart cats that can open doors, but we've never accidentally locked each other in a room or anything. Think we've had these installed for at least 6 months. A lot of this brands' safety locks have buttons that don't do anything except become a decoy button for your children to push. And I seriously doubt a toddler will have the strength to pinch the 2 sides of the lock for it to clamp down and close. I'm not a body builder or anything, just a chunky 36 year old woman and sometimes I have a hard time squeezing the sides to lock the mechanism in place, but it's not super hard for an adult to do either. Q: How does it adhere to the door?
A: I think it's the same premise of a command strip if you've ever used one of those to hang up something. Though when we removed a command strip once, it pulled paint off my wall. However, we have had several of these safety first locks installed for at least 6 months and they have never come off. But we've also never tried to remove one so I can't be of much help there sorry. Though I can tell you, I have a 16 pound cat that is very strong and used to pull on these things after we first installed them. He learned after awhile that he was just wasting his time. Lol. Hope this helps.
Q: How do you remove it when your done with it
A: Hello there. We recommend using dental floss or fishing string between the product and the adhesive to break that seal. You can then remove any remaining residue with a warm soapy cloth.
