Everything changed for Alex Maas in 2018. That was the year his first child was born-a happy and healthy baby boy-sending The Black Angels' vocalist and multi-instrumentalist into a flurry of emotions he hadn't felt before. There was the joy, of course, and the sheer awe that comes with creating new life. But to a lesser degree, there was also the fear What world is his son going to grow up into, exactly? And how can Maas protect him from the dangers within it? InchWhen you have a child, you face your own mortality in a lot of ways,Inch says Maas, a Texas native who's lived in Austin for decades. InchThe world is definitely messed up, but there's a lot of good in the world too.01 Slip Into 02 The Light That Will End Us 03 Special 04 Been Struggling 05 500 Dreams06 What Would I Tell Your Mother07 All Day 08 Shines Like The Sun (Madeline's Melody) 09 American Conquest10 The City

Following his Alpha recording of sonatas by Prokofiev, Ravel and Strauss, the violinist Tobias Feldmann now turns to the concerto form, performing the two major works of the Finnish repertoire for the instrument the violin concertos of Jean Sibelius and Einojuhani Rautavaara. Premiered in Helsinki in 1904, the Sibelius Concerto proved to be exceptionally difficult technically for the soloist. Sibelius revised his score, but subsequently composed for violin and orchestra only in shorter forms, the serenade and the humoresque. It was not until nearly seventy years later that a Finnish composer wrote another large-scale work for violin and orchestra, with the Concerto of Rautavaara, which in all respects equals the degree of virtuosity demanded by the earlier work.
