BLOWN AWAY. That is what you will be when you see OLED technology alongside the brilliant 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme technology built in this outstanding piece of art. This is coming from owners of the 2016 65' Sony X930D. We usually love wall mounting our TVs but not with our A1E. It is breathtaking, and it really takes you somewhere else. It's a whole different experience. The blacks are just deep. The colors are vibrant. It has this glossy vibrant elegant look to it. After a long day, coming to see the picture quality on something as basic as TV CHANNELS is just a real luxury and treat as you can see in my pictures/video attached to this review. And well, you can imagine the 4K/HDR content. It is brilliant. If you can splurge on this, this is the TV to do it on.

The latest OLED technology is almost as good as plasma ! They are really getting close to being able to recreate analog pictures with digital pixels for fast action scenes and sports . This Sony comes as close as anyone has so far. Still a ways to go though. Getting to native 240 Hz will be the next evolutionary step. All about them duckets. Who would buy it ? I, for one, would! This one really shines when you can watch actual 4K media. Streaming or via BlueRay looks remarkable. Fantastic job on color and tone right out of the box though professional calibration is still the way to go for that extra pizazz. Nice job Sony! Be a leader on 240 Hz! #Trinitron

Great vibrant colors and accurate skin tones. Broadcast tuner gets good reception, and OTA picture quality is great. Very good sound, and voices are clear.

This tv is top on the line quality. It’s best for watching nature documentaries and movies. I just feel that the price was very high in comparison to the competitor and as a regular tv watcher, I would have bought the cheaper Samsung.

The color and clarity of this tv are outstanding. I sat in the store and watched the A1E and the XBR 900 side by side. That’s when you can really see the superiority of the OLED screen. I also like the small border and no visible stand. It gives the tv a clean look.

Colors so vivid. Picture so sharp. Makes other TVs seem dull. Manual is lacking details.

Best of the best, I tried several others and family members warned me of Samsung issues, I went to a show where they lined up the top 5 OLED big screen TV’s and the Sony was the best looking, best responsive of them all! Added a Sony Receiver and some high end speakers and dual subwoofers... and I have folks begging to come over and watch the games or watch a movie! Very, very impressive!

Best Buy knows their products. We talked many times to different reps at the store about the tv. They had great advice. Sony Bravia is the Best Buy for the money literally. Very happy with the whole process beginning to end.

What a picture!!! So life like. Clear, sharp, unbelievable. Interesting packaging for the TV. It’s well protected. Directions call for careful handling. My wife and I were able to get it on the wall mount without a problem.

Listen, I'm not going to sugarcoat it: This is one of the best TVs on the market right now. But it's gonna cost you. I'm not going to dock it stars based on price, this review is about the product itself and what a product it is. Sony has really outdone themselves with the quality of their TV. The tablet-esque stand that keeps the tv tilted at a slight degree is awkward at first but the picturesque presentation quickly grows on you. Function wise this TV has everything. It runs on Android so it's a little more difficult to navigate than Samsung or LG but after a few hours you'll be a pro. Every app you can think of, designated Netflix, Google play Store buttons on the remote etc.. Etc.. and Now for what really matters, the picture quality. It FLOORED me. Honestly, this TV really doesn't need much in the means of calibration, but if you are spending this much then it can't hurt. As it is an OLED it uses LGs panel but the guts and processor are all Sony and it really buffs up the value here. I've never seen so many natural picture settings that require such little tweaking, the picture menu is simple enough and will auto adjust to most things you want but I'd recommend Cinema Pro with tweaks to whatever color temperature you want. 4k content looks absolutely stunning as well, deep rich blacks permeate the entirety of the screen and make night scenes a whole new experience in what you watch. Honestly, 1080P content such as Netflix, looks stunning also and the tv basically upscales anything you watch, you can add artificial HDR to anything if you want but I wouldn't recommend it as it blows up the colors and really messes with the facial tones. If there is one negative about this TV - and not enough to make it 4 instead of 5 stars- it's the speakers, or lack there of. The technology behind the sound is quite cool, actuators positioned on each side work together to make the sound come FROM the screen and wherever the audio is coming on it. This is cool when you first start up the tv but quickly loses its luster when you realize how limited the capabilities of the sound is during action scenes, lacking enough UMPH to compete with even a mid level soundbar or system.. so I highly recommend pairing this TV with one of those. Other than that this tv is an absolute masterpiece, If you have the money and want the best money can buy right now then don't hesitate, go buy this now.

First and foremost, I want to say this is the best TV I have ever owned. Its picture quality is above and beyond any TV I have ever viewed before. I have had a Sony LCD (6/10), a Panasonic Plasma (8/10) and Sony LED (7/10) before this TV and it blows all of them away. If you are familiar with the old Pioneer plasmas that revolutionized 'black levels' - this TV puts them to shame and I loved those TVs. ATTENTION NEW OWNERS: To get HDR, you must use HDMI 2 or 3 and you have to configure your input for 'Enhanced format'. Your TV will naturally be setup in "Standard" mode. To get the best picture quality, I would recommend searching "Sony A1E Calibration Settings". Your best native picture option would be tweaking "Cinema Pro". Picture Quality: Gorgeous. It is crystal clear and it's a perfect balance of bright and accurate colors. You have never seen black levels like this. Watching shows or movies with a lot of night scenes will look like a whole new experience. I have an Xbox One X connected to it, which is an excellent source in that it does HDR gaming, 4K gaming and has a 4K HDR Blu-Ray player. I would recommend Cinema Pro as your picture mode for the best results. I have tested numerous games, numerous Blu-Ray movies, Netflix HDR/UHD and it's simply gorgeous for all for them. Note: This screen is glossy, so you will want to ensure you have blackout blinds or your viewing area is dark for maximum picture quality. I have watched it during the daytime and I had no significant issues but you will see reflections time to time. If you have a window or source of light directly across from the TV, you will notice it. I would encourage ALL light sources go behind your viewing area. If you want lighting behind the TV (recommended), look into "bias lighting kits" such as Philips Hue. Most modern TVs will have some form of gloss to reflect light from being absorbed in the panel and hindering picture quality. Sound Quality: I have a surround system but have heard nothing but good things about the TV speakers. I pulled up YouTube and listened to some music and it sounded great. It certainly won't replace your surround system or even your soundbar likely, but it has some of the best audio for a TV out of the box. If you're mounting this on a wall with limited space, you will be happy with the audio quality. Menu: This TV comes equipped with Android TV, which, by itself, is amazing (see Nvidia Shield). However, Sony has let their customers down by making it too bloated where it is a poorly performing menu system. When you finally do get to your TV settings, it's easy to navigate, but can be very slow. To accommodate this, I have my Android system in Developer mode and have shut off a lot of processes from running when the TV is turned on. If you are frustrated with the menu system, I would look more into my suggestions above. Overall Design: Beautiful. Most of the panel is no thicker than .5" and it is well designed. Your stand is your TV input, which does give it more thickness towards the center. If you're mounting this, you will hardly notice. Its bezel around the screen is extremely minimal and doesn't detract from your viewing experience. My viewing area is straight-on, however, it does have decent viewing angles from what I could tell. Summary: I would highly recommend this TV. Your picture quality is only as good as your sources, so make sure if you are spending this much for a TV that you look into devices to maximize its potential. This is encouraged for your TV provider as well, unless you're hooking up an antenna. No matter what you're watching; sports, gaming, movies, TV shows, you will be pleased with the picture and audio quality this TV provides.

OLED finally delivers a television that has better picture quality than the great departed Kuro plasmas. The Sony adaptation of the LG OLED is a marriage made in heaven LGs best display with Sony's second to none video processing. A cinematic tour de force indeed. Expensive yes, but cheaper than a 50 inch Kuro plasma 8 yrs ago while 15 inches larger. In that light its a steal. Nothing beats a black level of zero, infinite contrast, HDR, 4k, illimited viewing angle that has zero motion blur. It looks fantastic straight out of the box, no calibration required.

Costliest choice of OLED at this time, but superior picture compared to the LG most similar to this model, even though both are LG screens. I use Direct TV, Sonos, and a Samsung Blueray HDR w a built-in streaming hub for content, including 4K,. The instruction manual is very unhelpful. Wasn't as difficult to set up as I anticipated, but it is heavy and viewing one of the available Youtube videos on unpacking it is recommended. The slight tilt from the stand design is not an issue for viewing. The viewing angle range shows no dropoff in color accuracy or brightness as is common w LED sets. The digital audio output sends a Dolby signal so connecting to a Sonos system is easy. The Direct TV remote programs the basic TV functions easily and although the Sony TV remote programs Direct TV functions, I don't use it because it is so poorly designed. The only weaknesses of the TV are the design and implementation of the operating system and the remote. They are both a mess. The configuration of the Smart TV functions is a disincentive to use them. The TV is Direct TV ready, but the 4K content from Direct TV apparently still requires a separate freestanding 4K client and there are only 3 channels. Direct TV cannot be considered a good source for 4K content at this time. Upcoding of non-4K content is superb, and rendering of 4K content streamed from Netflix, or Blueray is amazing.

First off, the picture quality, motion and everything about the panel and image processing is superior to everything on the market for an OLED panel. With that being said, the OS is absolutely useless. This review is being written on 6/26/2017 and my TV has the most recent updates. The OS is extremely glitchy, slow, and unusable. If you plan on using smart functions on this TV a separate set-top box or 4K Blu-Ray player MUST be used for smart functions. To me, when spending $5,000 for a TV I do believe expecting the Smart functions and UI to be at LEAST as good as other smart functions on competitors TVs but when spending $5,000 you expect them to be exceptional. The main issue with the Android TV UI and OS is that any adjustment to volume when using the included remote it will slow down the entire system, degrade streaming quality, and in some instances interrupt your viewing experience all together... just to change the volume and put a volume bar on the screen. This, on a $5,000 TV is unacceptable. The other issues I've had with the OS and UI include slow navigation, apps crashing (both native and third party), unsupported file types, and the fact that there is NO web browser on a $5,000 TV. The issues with the apps crashing are usually with two apps (and this may or may not be sony's fault) Youtube and Netflix. There have been an uncountable amount of occurrences where these apps crash or don't start up at all. The youtube app will load the background with red and grey without any content and will never load content until the app is closed and re-opened and in some cases you need to go into settings and force stop the app. And in the Netflix app it will load to 25% on any title and hang there indefinitely. In conclusion. PERFECT picture quality, motion, color and everything about the panel itself and image processing is PERFECT. but for $5,000 if you're going to include Smart Functions it better be JUST AS PERFECT AS THE PANEL ITSELF. I will update my review to reflect any future software/firmware updates that solve any of the issues above.

This TV was great for 18 months. Now it has a green tint in the middle of the screen. Since it is off warranty, Best Buy and Sony will do nothing. Sony customer service actually just forwarded me a link to the yellow pages to find a repair service myself. I guess I should have listened to people and bought a LG or Samsung instead. I will never buy Sony again, bad products and customer service.
