About This Item

Prog-Rock Legends Spock's Beard Arrive On Madfish With New Album The Archaeoptimist. Gatefold 2LP Version, Pressed On Red Vinyl. If Spock's Beard have taught us anything over their 30+ years in the business, it's that they have no interest in becoming their own tribute act. The Archaeoptimist - their latest offering & first on Madfish - is not a retreat into old habits, but a recalibration. Just when you think they're settling in, they kick the walls out instead. At the centre of this particular storm is Ryo Okumoto, whose fingerprints are all over the album - not just as a performer, but as a driving creative force. Teaming up with co-writer Michael Whiteman (I Am the Manic Whale) & longstanding bandmembers Alan Morse & Ted Leonard, Ryo has helped shape an album that is undeniably Spock's Beard with a characteristic wry smile to boot. The album was produced by Okumoto & recorded at each band member's respective home studios. Esteemed producer Rich Mouser (Dream Theater/Weezer) takes up the mixing & mastering duties. Over more than 30 years, Spock's Beard have established themselves as one of modern progressive music's most exciting & consistent acts, with live shows as renowned as their studio work & tours that draw sold-out audiences across the globe. Their albums regularly chart worldwide, with 2018's Noise Floor reaching #3 on the UK Official Rock & Metal Chart & #6 on the Official Progressive Albums Chart. This edition of The Archaeoptimist is presented as a 2LP gatefold package & is pressed on red vinyl. Album Tracks 1. Invisible (06 33) 2. Electric Monk (06 16) 3. Afourthoughts (07 31) 4. St. Jerome in the Wilderness (08 46) 1. The Archaeoptimist (Part 1) (16 53) 2. The Archaeoptimist (Part 2) (04 14) 3. Next Step (10 58)

The Black Angels - Directions To See A Ghost - Metallic Silver - VINYL LP

The Black Angels bring the aura of mid-1966-the drilling guitars of early Velvet Underground shows, the raga inflections of late-show Fillmore jams, the acid-prayer stomp of Austin avatars the 13th Floor Elevators-everywhere they go, including the levitations on their second album, Directions To See A Ghost. Mid-Eighties echoes of Spacemen 3 and the Jesus and Mary Chain also roll through the scoured-guitar sustain and Alex Maas' rocker-monk incantations. But he knows what time it is. 'You say the Beatles stopped the war,Inch Maas sings in 'Never/Ever. They might've helped to find a cure/But it's still not over. ' Even so, this medicine works wonders. Inch - David Fricke, Rolling Stone When last we met The Black Angels, they were staring into the desert sun somewhere outside of Austin, Texas. Two years later, night has fallen and the spirits have come out. It's time for The Black Angels to provide Directions To See A Ghost. If you're familiar with Passover, the band's 2006 debut, you'll know that The Black Angels' music alone is enough to invoke spirits. There's a name for the band's sound Inchhypno-drone 'n' roll. Inch It's the sound of long nights on peyote, dreams of a new world order, and half-invented memories of the seamy side of 60s psychedelia. The Black Angels formed in Austin, Texas, in 2004, comprised of six people (now five) from very different backgrounds. Singer/vocalist Christian Bland is the son of a Presbyterian Pastor and was raised in a devoutly religious household. Bassist/guitarist Nate Ryan was born on a cult compound, and drummer Stephanie Bailey claims she's a descendent of Davy Crocket. She and Alex Maas (vocals/guitar) both believe a little girl in a red linen dress haunts the group's home. InchCivil War battlefields are prime spots for seeing ghosts,Inch says Bland. InchOne time at Kennesaw mountain in Georgia, I was climbing the mountain i

Fontaines D.C. - Skinty Fia - VINYL LP

FONTAINES D.C. / SKINTY FIA - Vinyl LP pressing. 2020's A Hero's Death saw Fontaines D.C. land a #2 album in the UK, receive nominations at the GRAMMYs, BRITs and Ivor Novello Awards, and sell out London's iconic Alexandra Palace. Now the band return with their third record in as many years Skinty Fia. Used colloquially as an expletive, the title roughly translates from the Irish language into English as 'the damnation of the deer'; the spelling crassly anglicized, and it's meaning diluted through generations. Part bittersweet romance, part darkly political triumph - the songs ultimately form a long-distance love letter, one that laments an increasingly privatized culture in danger of going the way of the extinct Irish giant deer Album Tracks 1. In Ar Gcroithe Go Deo 2. Big Shot 3. How Cold Love Is 4. Jackie Down the Line 5. Bloomsday 6. Roman Holiday 7. The Couple Across the Way 8. Skinty Fia 9. I Love You 10. Nabokov
