"I found it!" you think, unearthing that old PC in your garage. To your amazement, it turns on, the hard drive whirs promisingly, your trusty vga cable is ready to go... at least, til you realize you dont have a monitor that takes vga anymore. "Curse my slavish adherence to tech updates", you grouse to yourself, as you look at the back panel. Yes, there's a discrete graphics card there; no, it doesnt have hdmi out. Because, back then, hdmi wasnt really around and dvi was, in our innocent minds, even better because it wasnt burdened with audio throughput or something like that. What do you do, dear reader? What do you do? You buy this cable, that's what you do. Tear open its packaging, connect your PC to a monitor, and use it to find out that although your PC turns on and your hard drive whirs, something got corrupted and your trip down memory lane comes to a sad end. That's just what you do.

I bought the cord to connect my computer with a second monitor so I could have dual screens. However, both monitors are old, so a lot of their ports are outdated. The monitors have are VGA and DVI-D, whereas my computer has VGA and HDMI. After connecting the first monitor with a VGA cable, I was looking for another cable to connect my computer's HDMI port with either VGA or DVI-D. After comparing prices, the HDMI to DVI-D cord was far more affordable and has worked out great, so far. I love having the capability to have dual screens and make the most of these old monitors.

This cable works like a charm. Apparently I have an "older" computer (2 years old!!) and it still had only the VGA connection and an outdated HDI connection, in back. This cable took care of the issue. Works great and didn't cost the farm in the process.

I needed to connect our newer laptop to an older monitor, and no problems. Clean picture and no lag. The monitor does not have sound, so no issues there to resolve.

With working from home being the new normal, I needed another screen to make work a little easier. Had an extra monitor sitting around upstairs but I didn't have the right cord as my laptop only allows for an HDMI adapter. This cord did exactly what I needed it to do and Best Buy was able to get it to me faster than originally promised.

The DVI to HDMI cable works just as intended. I am now able to view and operate my PC Desktop on my TCL 55 P605 4K/HDR TV. Simple to hook up, Easy as plugging/attaching one end to each other. Great thing is StarTech.com sent this via UPS which I prefer over USPS courier service. Will order again from this company

My Raspberry Pi has an HDMI output. I have no monitors that I can use with an HDMI input. But I do have DVI. This cable worked for me and I would recommend it for anyone else using a Pi.

Purchased several of these for myself and my family. They are not expensive and work well with our monitors. They seem to be of good quality and long lasting. We have two that we purchased about 2 years ago.

My monitor had a DVI input but my mac mini only had hdmi and thunderbolt. This cable did the job and works great. I have purchased many startech products such as this one and have never been disappointed.

I needed a cheap cable to hook my switch up to computer monitors and this cable worked perfectly. Still use it to this day and it still works great1

Had some newer PCs with HDMI and monitors with DVI, these connectors worked great and now there is no need for some USB adapter.

I'm without a monitor for my gaming pc right now. But I do have a spare 22in tv that can do the job for now. But, my pc's hdmi port is reserved for my oculus rift. This cable allowed me to make the connection I needed.

Worked exactly as described: Connected Laptop with HDMI to monitor with DVI connection.

This allows me to connect an HDMI monitor to a computer with a DVI connection. I use this to add a 2nd monitor to my docking station. Quality is good also.

I was able to connect a legacy graphics card on an old GPU to a monitor that only had HDMI inputs. Works great and looks like good quality

Best Buy appears to offer two HDMI to DVI-D cables, this and another one that's several times more expensive. It's unclear to me why there is any need for another cable of this kind since this one works perfectly.

I'd guess that this cable works as well as $30+ cable sold in the store. I use it to connect computer to 29 inch TV/monitor, so I can see smaller text, etc. I did try an HDMI cable, but that routed the audio from computer to TV, and it was unacceptable. With this cable I can use the Altec speaker system plugged into the computer when I play music from MP3 files or You Tube, and the the audio sounds great, as well as getting great video on the monitor.

Needed this cord to run one of my three monitors to a new docking station to work from my home office, works wonderfully.

Good solid product, just not what i needed. This id HDMI to DVI, I needed DVI to HDMI - older computer to TV.
