Stonewheel - Feel Like Yesterday - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Avram Brown, professionally known as The Wheel, is a Portland, Oregon-based recording artist and producer. Brown's earliest musical inspiration was his parents 60s- and '70s-heavy record collection. With folk music roots that ran deep, poetry and songwriting came early in life, but soon gave way to a fascination with improvised psychedelic rock, jazz, experimental, devotional and avant-garde music. Combining his melodic vocal-driven song-craft with kaleidoscopic production and guitar textures, The Wheel spins open an interdimensional portal that weaves indie folk-rock into psychedelic dreamscapes on his debut self-titled album releasing in early 2024. The Wheel and Raymond Richards (Local Natives, LCD Soundsystem) co-produced the record, which features contributions from violist/arranger Kyleen King (Brandi Carlile, The Decemberists), recording engineer Larry Crane (Elliot Smith), and the late great Ralph Carney (Tom Waits, The B-52's) on baritone saxophone and bass clarinet.

After two decades, The Steel Wheels mark their 20th anniversary with a self-titled album that captures the band at a new creative peak. Since their start, the group-Trent Wagler (vocals, banjo, guitar), Eric Brubaker (fiddle), Jay Lapp (mandolin, guitar), Kevin Garcia (drums, percussion), and Jeremy Darrow (bass)-has grown from a harmony-driven acoustic act into a dynamic folk rock band with a loyal following and a reputation for powerful live shows. The Steel Wheels was recorded in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley with producer D. James Goodwin (Goose, Bonny Light Horseman, I'm With Her) at his studio, The Isokon. Tracking live in one room brought immediacy and intimacy to the sessions, resulting in an album that feels urgent and alive. Songs like InchEasy,Inch InchGo Back,Inch and InchKeep On DancingInch highlight the band's range, combining anthemic energy with moments of tender restraint. This record is both a celebration of 20 years and a bold step forward, showcasing a band still pushing boundaries while staying true to it's roots.
