UNREQVITED mastermind ? (Ghost) has a penchant for beautiful musical creations that reveal their claws and fangs only at closer inspection after spending some time on them. This solo project is firmly rooted in blackgaze sonic soil but has also sent out tendrils into ambient, post-rock, post-black metal, and other related stylistic strata. The seventh album, InchA Pathway to the MoonInch, is taking an impressive evolutionary leap. One element of this significant sonic development of UNREQVITED is the novel exploration into a predominantly lyrical realm. This step away from mostly expansive soundscapes towards more singing is also due to the transition of UNREQVITED into a touring band. ? carefully crafted InchA Pathway to the MoonInch with live performances in his mind. The result is an album that resembles a blackgaze soundtrack - a legacy further underlined by the artbook bonus track, which features a cover of the Hans Zimmer InchInterstellarInch composition 'Cornfield Chase'. Despite the divergence into more lyrical dimensions, InchA Pathway to the MoonInch keeps the use of lighter and more uplifting passages that were increasingly employed among the expected dark twists on InchBeautiful GhostsInch (2021). The significant use of clean vocals throughout the album turns out in hindsight as writing on the wall about developments to come. The core elements that have shaped UNREQVITED in the past remain in active service as well Thus, the massive anthemic refrains from InchMosaic I l'amour et l'ardeurInch (2018) are equally present as the simple melancholic melodies from the 2016 debut album InchDisquietInch and the orchestral grandeur of InchEmpathicaInch (2020). Ever since ? conceived UNREQVITED as the musical vehicle for his multi-faceted creative output and brought it to light in 2016, his project has been a constantly shape-shifting and stylistically wide roaming

Magnetic Eye Records presents a blistering live document of flagship MER band Summoner ripping it up onstage at the Day of Doom tag showcase at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus Bar. This once-in-a-lifetime gathering was held in November 2019 to celebrate the tag's first decade. It featured nine roster acts performing back-to-back, with the four headline sets captured live by Chris Johnson (Deafheaven, Summoner) to commemorate the event as a set of exclusive live albums. Over the course of three albums and appearances on several Redux releases, Summoner have honed a sound which draws heavily from classic 70s and early 80s metal, as well as more modern spacefaring psychedelics, with lyrical themes rooted in sci-fi and fantasy. Day of Doom Live presents the signature riffs and solos of dual guitarists AJ Peters and Joe Richner and the soaring, layered vocals of bassist/singer Chris Johnson (also bassist in death metal luminaries Deafheaven) delivered in a live setting, blasting forth thunderous, catchy songs propelled beyond the realm of light and into oblivion.
