About this product

Magnetic Eye Records presents a blistering live document of flagship MER band Summoner ripping it up onstage at the Day of Doom tag showcase at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus Bar. This once-in-a-lifetime gathering was held in November 2019 to celebrate the tag's first decade. It featured nine roster acts performing back-to-back, with the four headline sets captured live by Chris Johnson (Deafheaven, Summoner) to commemorate the event as a set of exclusive live albums. Over the course of three albums and appearances on several Redux releases, Summoner have honed a sound which draws heavily from classic 70s and early 80s metal, as well as more modern spacefaring psychedelics, with lyrical themes rooted in sci-fi and fantasy. Day of Doom Live presents the signature riffs and solos of dual guitarists AJ Peters and Joe Richner and the soaring, layered vocals of bassist/singer Chris Johnson (also bassist in death metal luminaries Deafheaven) delivered in a live setting, blasting forth thunderous, catchy songs propelled beyond the realm of light and into oblivion.

Summoner - Beyond the Realm of Light - Ultra Clear & Purple - VINYL LP

The massively-anticipated third album of stoner metal excess from Boston's reigning kings! Formerly known as Riff Cannon, Summoner are a Boston institution who fuse elements of metal, stoner rock, doom, and cosmic psychedelia into a heavy rock monster that obliterates everything it meets. Following a well-received under their old moniker, the re-christened band barreled onto the scene in 2012 with InchPhoenix,Inch their debut as Summoner, selling out multiple pressings with virtually no promotion or distribution. The now classic InchAtlantianInch followed in 2013, cementing them as a force in the re-awakened stoner/doom underground.

Sam Lee - Songdreaming - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Sam Lee releases his fourth studio album, 'songdreaming', which was recorded throughout 2023 and sees Sam continue his work with producer Bernard Butler and long-term collaborator, arranger, and composer James Keay in creating an album rich in musicality and invention. Across the ten tracks, Sam delivers an album that ranges from more immediately identifiable acoustic songs to drone soundscapes through to the electric guitar and gospel choir propelled lead single, 'Meeting Is A Pleasant Place', featuring the recording debut of Trans Voices, a London based transgender choir. It is an album that can incorporate the beautiful balladry of 'Sweet Girl McRee' alongside the gospel tinges of 'Leaves of Life' whilst also housing the whiteout noise close of album opener 'Bushes and Briars', a song that details Sam's rage at the treatment and condition of the natural world. What that means to the listener is a rich and evocative journey through the complex emotions created for Sam by his engagement with nature and his deep-felt affinity for it, drawing on sources as diverse as the sacred music of European and global mystic traditions, the work of neo-classical contemporary composers, and the simple effectiveness of a well delivered vocal melody. At the heart of 'songdreaming' is a belief in the fundamental power of music to connect and inspire. For Sam, these reimagined and reworked songs are more than a history, they are a living, breathing connection to our very being InchThose people who are and were singing the old songs here at home were also looking after the land. When we stop singing to the land, the land stops singing back.Inch It is an album that avoids simple classification, the revelation of an artist at the height of his creative powers, dedicated to both his message and it's connection to it's audience.
