The small hanging bird feeder measures 6.5 inches wide and 6.25 inches high, with a 2.75-inch fly-through opening that welcomes smaller birds such as finches, chickadees, wrens, and sparrows. Larger birds, including cardinals and jays, may be too large for the opening. The deck bird feeder for hanging holds approximately 1 cup of small birdseed blend, although actual capacity varies depending on the type of seed used. Seed is added through the side openings. Tilting the feeder horizontally and using a small cup, funnel, paper cone, or narrow spoon helps guide seed into the bottom of the globe for easier, more controlled filling.
