The small hanging bird feeder measures 10 inches wide and 10 inches high, with a 3.5-inch fly-through opening that welcomes smaller birds such as finches, chickadees, wrens, and sparrows. Larger birds, including cardinals and jays, may be too large for the opening. The deck bird feeder for hanging holds approximately 2 cups of small birdseed blend, although actual capacity varies depending on the type of seed used. Seed is added through the side openings. Tilting the feeder horizontally and using a small cup, funnel, paper cone, or narrow spoon helps guide seed into the bottom of the globe for easier, more controlled filling. A small, mesh-covered hole in the bottom of the birdfeeder for outdoors allows rainwater to drain away, helping keep seed drier.
