About this product
Heading into the spring of 2020, T. Hardy Morris had 12 demos that he thought would make-up his next album, then, everything changed. The world took a break and so his plans to record did as well. As we all watched and waited out the storms; viral and societal, we seemed to wake up scrolling through a whole new century, a time Morris began to refer to as The Digital Age of Rome.He scrapped the demos and began a collection of songs in quarantine where the unprecedented times and topics were unavoidable. He wanted to document the era sonically and lyrically in some way.InchI wanted it to sound like how the world felt to me in the second half of 2020. Uncomfortable and chaotic, dystopian but still beautiful.InchThe Digital Age of Rome was recorded in a deserted downtown Athens, Ga. With long-time collaborator / producer Adam Landry.Side A -1. 150gm vinyl LP pressing housed in a gatefold sleeve, includes digital download. Within 11 powerful songs, the Athens rocker reveals scars and shares lessons from an indie-rock odyssey that has taken him around the world and back home to find himself a little older and closer to something like enlightenment. And just in time for a new journey to begin. For the sessions, Morris made the familiar pilgrimage to Adam Landry's home studio in Nashville. The longtime collaborators took their time and gave each song the opportunity to grow unaffected by outside influence except the magic that happens when two friends lock themselves in a smoky shed to make music, and a few pals stop by.
Album Tracks 1. Write It in the Sky 2. I Guess 3. Juvenile Years 4. Breakneck Speed 5. Don't Kill Your Time (To Shine) 6. Sweet Success 7. Low Hopes 8. Poets in the Mist 9. Knowing Me 10. Shadows of Doubt 11. Fight Forever 12. Trouble Will
Vinyl LP pressing. 2013 debut solo album from Georgia native musician T. Morris Hardy, best known as frontman for Southern Psych-rockers Dead Confederate. Recorded at Playground Sound Studios in Nashville, TN with Cosmic Thug production team Justin Collins and Adam Landry, the sessions behind Audition Tapes came to be with the help of a variety of Morris' talented circle of friends who dropped by to lend a hand, including Delta Spirit's Matt Vasquez, Black Lips/Diamond Rugs guitarist Ian Saint Pe, steel guitarist Matt Pistol Stossel, keyboardist Thayer Serrano, and drummer Julian Dorio (The Whigs). Audition Tapes finds Morris abundantly inspired, oftentimes invoking the grand spirits of Elliot Smith, Alex Chilton or fellow Georgian Vic Chesnutt. Album Tracks 1. Lucky 2. Disaster Proof 3. Ok Corral 4. Audition Tapes 5. Hardstuff 6. Quit Diggin' 7. Share the Needle 8. History's Hoax 9. Beauty Rest 10. Own Worst Enemy
