Suite Crude Revue is a rotating cast of outstanding performers committed to an unshackled aesthetic. Produced, composed, and arranged by Daniel Zelonky, this single presents songs for imagined films. InchCowpoke DetoxInch might be termed Inchspaghetti jazzInch. It's a strange hybrid of spaghetti western style baritone guitar lines supporting jazz noir harmonies, creating a surreal backdrop for the tale of an unrepentant murderer, who feels regret only in terms of the consequences he's facing. InchBlue Ramen #1Inch is a lover's lament, set to what might be termed a InchHollywood sambaInch One imagines Los Angeles session players emulating samba for a commercial film, not an authentic Brazilian band. The rich aural environment culminates in a dreamy closing vamp with the impassioned vocal set amid a swirl of improvised trumpet, violin, and piano. This haunting, yet ironic song may well have found it's way into the popular consciousness... if the movie had actually existed! This record breaks the mold of history-conscious record making, eschewing the slavish copying of past styles which has become so common, and exemplifying the tag's stated mission of InchReimagining a futuristic pastInch where Inchweird vistas of fresh possibilities unfold before us...Inch VERY limited edition on vinyl.

2009 from multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Michael Johnson AKA Ape School. From the resounding onset of 'Wail to God,' to the song's oscillator outro barely two minutes later, the tonal breadth and sonic fluidity of Ape School is clear. A song like 'Did What I Did' flirts with Pop sensibility, but coheres in subtle feedback when repetition would normally devolve it to redundancy. Elsewhere, as on 'My Intention' and 'Deathstomp,' Johnson commits to full mechanical shredding and focused romps of analog Rock glory awash in system buzz. Other, more spacious moments like 'That's OK, It's Over' and 'The Underground' reveal the songs' subtle instrumental basis, and bare the accidentally clever, eloquent lyrics of his elastic tenor.
