About this product
The Besnard Lakes have passed through death and they're here to tell the tale. Nearly five years after their last lightning-tinted volley, the magisterial Montreal psych- rock band have sworn off compromise and completed a searing, 72-minute suite about the darkness of dying and the light on the other side. Ignited by their love for each other, for playing music together, the sextet found themselves unspooling the most uncompromising recording of their career. Despite all it's grandeur,Inch... The Last of the Great Thunderstorm WarningsInch honors the very essence of punk rock the notion that a band need only be relevant to itself. At last the Besnard Lakes have crafted a continuous long-form suite nine tracks that could be listened together as one, like Spiritualized's InchLazer Guided MelodiesInch or even InchDark Side of the Moon,Inch overflowing with melody and harmony, drone and dazzle, the group's own unique weather. Here now, the Besnard Lakes finally dispensed with the two/three-year album cycle, taking all the time they needed to conceive, compose, record and mix their opus. Rightly - nay, definitively! - InchThe Besnard Lakes Are The Last of the Great Thunderstorm WarningsInch is a double LP. It's literally a journey into (and back from) the brink the story of the Besnard Lakes' own odyssey but also a remembrance of others', especially the death of Lasek's father in 2019.In late 2020 and 2021, as the world burns, there might be nothing less trendy than an hour-long psych-rock epic by a band of Canadian grandmasters. Then again, there might be nothing we need more. Inch... The Last of the Great Thunderstorm WarningsInch is a bright-blazing requiem nine tunes that are one tune and six musicians who make one band - unleashed and unconstrained, piercing and technicolour. At the end of the golden day, the Besnard Lakes are right where they should be.

The third album from the Swedish progressive rock band Anekdoten, recorded and mixed on analogue tape at the famous Atlantis Grammofon (formerly Metronome Studio) in Stockholm, home to many classic ABBA albums. Predecessor 'Nucleus' was a heavy album, with only a little relief from it's stridency. In comparison, 'From Within' is an album of light and shade.'From Within' will be released in a digipack with 8-page booklet and was remastered in 2020 by Hans Fredriksson.
Vinyl LP pressing includes . The Besnard Lakes return with The Golden Lion 12Inch - three brand new tracks as a precursor to a new album due in 2016. Make no mistake these are three tracks of The Besnard Lakes at their most glorious, anthemic, psychedelic best. In late 2014, The Besnard Lakes hit the road with a brand new line up; retaining the core of husband and wife team Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas, plus longterm drummer Kevin Laing, they expanded to a five piece adding Sheena Ko (of the High Dials and USA out of Vietnam) plus Robbie Macarthur (also of the High Dials) on synths and guitar respectively. A total rejuvenation of the band, these were some of the most downright glorious and visceral shows The Besnard Lakes had played to date, blowing the roof off venue after venue with an enviable catalogue of anthems. As soon as they were back from tour, Lasek and Goreas hunkered down to write some of the most definitive Besnard Lakes songs to date. The Golden Lion, taken from the forthcoming album, is a perfect distilment of everything that is great about the band. A kaleidoscopic Beatles-esque verse gives way to one of the most glorious Besnard Lakes choruses yet delivered, a true classic in the making. B-sides InchThe MotorwayInch and InchIn the ForestInch are exclusive to this 12Inch and are prime slices of hazy psychedelia.
Following closely on from the critically acclaimed LP, Besnard Lakes Are The last Of The Great Thunderstorm Warnings, the Montreal Psych-Rock band return with a beguiling 3 track EP which revisits the psychedelic drone and dazzle of the album in the shape of three extended excursions into dream-like space jams. The EP was recorded during the same sessions as the album, but was considered to be a separate project.
