The Chambers Brothers - Feelin' the Blues - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

With one of the most impressive back catalogs that soul, pop and rhythm & blues has to offer, this collection explains in detail just how these bright and burgeoning young talents carved out a name for themselves before inevitably being snatched up by major labels.

Starting out as a popular gospel and folk group in Southern California in the mid-1950's, The Chambers Brothers became an integral part of the new wave of music that blended gospel and blues influences with the psychedelic sounds of the mid-1960's, reaching their peak in 1968 with their enormously popular 11-minute long song InchTime Has Come Today,Inch which became an anthem of the sixties counter culture. Presented here is their classic 1966 album, InchPeople Get Ready,Inch featuring songs penned by songwriting greats Jimmy Reed, Lowell Fulson, Hank Ballard, Bobby Womack, Leiber & Stoller, Curtis Mayfield, James Taylor, George & Ira Gershwin and two songs written by the brothers themselves. All selections newly remastered.

Recorded live between InchThe UnicornInch in Boston and InchThe Ash GroveInch in Los Angeles and released on Vault Records in 1967, this show pre-dates The Chambers Brothers' signing to Columbia Records by more than a year, capturing the group retaining elements of their gospel roots while also transitioning into a newer, fuller sound. Showcasing their top class vocal harmonies, bluesy guitar work, and a rock steady beat, this is a true slice of psychedelic soul history and features tracks including 'Hi Heel Sneakers', 'Long Tall Sally' and epic six-minute closer 'So Fine'.
