About this product

LP version. At the end of the '70s, The Monochrome Set were part of the first wave of post-punk bands. Right from the beginning, the band earned a solid reputation as purveyors of fine pop, gaining praise from '80s contemporaries such as Morrissey and Edwyn Collins. This praise has continued in the decades since, with artists such as Franz Ferdinand, The Divine Comedy, and Graham Coxon all citing the band as a key influence on their own work. The Monochrome Set's sound has often been described as timeless, and that alone explains why, over the years, the band has continued to gain admirers. Volume, Contrast, Brilliance... Unreleased & Rare Vol.2 is the sequel to the 1983 compilation Volume, Contrast, Brilliance... Sessions & Singles Vol. 1. It's a wonderful collection of previously unreleased and rare tracks spanning 1978 to 1991. These gems range from DIY works to high-quality studio recordings, some of which were improperly recorded or never released due to a variety of reasons (bad timing, odd decisions, forgetfulness) fully explained in the liner notes. The range of styles on display here is typical of this iconic and highly influential band - slices of their sound can still be heard in indie and mainstream music worldwide.

Off with Their Heads - Be Good - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Off with Their Heads are back with their new album, Be Good. The band has been relatively quiet over the last two years, largely because frontman Ryan Young was tending to an ill family member who ultimately passed away last year. But through mourning came inspiration. InchShe was a photographer, and at the wake were all these photos she took,Inch he remembers. One of those photos struck him immediately. It shows a Mennonite family enjoying a sunny day at the beach while an ominous cooling tower looms in the background. InchI said That's gonna be the cover of the album that doesn't exist yet.Inch That photo captures the spirit of Be Good. While all of Off with Their Heads' previous work shares a common thread of being rooted in Young's fatalistic view of the world, Be Good at least allows a tiny glimmer of hope to peek through. Young and the band members-bassist Robbie Smartwood, guitarist\ John Polydoros, and new drummer Kyle Manning-holed up for two and a half weeks at Pachyderm Studios, a mid-century mansion in Minnesota where Nirvana recorded In Utero, to make Be Good. Young co-produced the record along with Dan Jensen, and it was the first time he enjoyed the process, or at least tolerated it. Be Good will be released by Epitaph Records on August 16 and, if ever there was a time for Ryan Young's distinct brand on cautious optimism, it's now. Young says, InchBe good, be loud-that's sometimes all you can do.Inch

The Residents - Duck Stab! Alive! - VINYL LP

The Residents released DUCK STAB! As a seven inch EP in 1978. For the group, the EP represented a break from the much more experimental Eskimo recordings which consumed the majority of a four year period from 1975 - 79. To everyone's surprise, the EP was a hit, selling 50, 000 copies in a few months. The demand was so high, that Ralph, the groups tag, insisted the band to record a second EP, Buster & Glen, which they paired with DUCK STAB! #to make an LP, which was also quite successful. In order to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the legendary alternative TV show InchNight FlightInch, The Residents created a program based on a live version of DUCK STAB!, which the band was already rehearsing as part of their upcoming 50th Anniversary Tour DOG STAB! DUCK STAB! ALIVE! #was recorded live in the studio over three days from May 19 - 21, 2021 at the 25th Street Studio in Oakland, CA. The stunning results in sound and vision are contained in this limited edition boxed set. This boxed set is a custom made 10Inch high quality box with a DVD Nest. The package includes two 10Inch LP's and a DVD Digipack with a 16 page booklet featuring a short story on Duck Stab along with full color images from the show.
