About this product

After a record breaking hiatus of 25 years, THE NORTHERN TERRITORIES are back for good. The Swedish melancholic synth duo has used the time well to hone their musical prowess and to think hard about how they wanted their unique sound to come across in the present. As a result of this intense thought process, the stunning album InchA Star in Orbit StillInch combines everything that made the band great and generated a dedicated and loyal following that eagerly awaited their return during all those years with a contemporary sound design. Channeling their trademark melancholy and Nordic knack for captivating melodies, THE NORTHERN TERRITORIES did not even shy away from covering LANA DEL REY's iconic track 'Say Yes to Heaven' and to make it theirs. When the Swedish duo disbanded after the of their third full-length InchSatellite PeopleInch in 1999, they left behind many a broken heart in the electronic music scene that was mourning the loss of a one of a kind band with a unique sonic appearance. THE NORTHERN TERRITORIES' combination of outstanding songwriting with a strong melancholic Nordic tint as well as semi-acoustic, semi-electronic instrumentation created their very own version of a dreampop soundscape. With InchA Star in Orbit Still', THE NORTHERN TERRITORIES are not just back on track as if nothing happened in the years of their absence, but the Swedes return on top of their game and fully ready to climb new peaks!

New Birth - New Age - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The concept for the soul-funk band New Birth evolved in 1963. Originally, all of the members were participants in three separate acts. Touring throughout the country, the three acts frequently joined together for an arousing finale. So well received was the performance, soon New Birth was born. Eventually, gravitating to Detroit in search of stardom, the group landed their first of several recording contracts and began an impressive collection of hit smashes like InchI Can Understand ItInch, InchIt's ImpossibleInch, InchDream MerchantInch and InchWild FlowerInch from hit albums like InchComin' from All EndsInch and InchBlind BabyInch. All the while they continued to develop their elaborately staged shows which led them to the first of a long line of R&B space fantasy productions. Recorded in the early 1980's, the personnel lineup for InchNew AgeInch includes, Tony Churchill (tenor sax, background vocals and keyboards), Austin Lander (baritone sax, flute, keyboards, bass and horns), James Baker (keyboards, trombone, drums and string arrangements), Robert Jackson (trumpet, keyboards, drums, vocal arrangements, choreography), Allen Frey (vocal arrangements, composing, percussion), Charles Hearndon (lead guitar, composer, arranger, keyboards), Robert Downs (vocals and writer) and Londie Wiggins (vocals). Finally available in the digital domain, all selections have been newly remastered.

Schumann / Lee - Schumann: Piano Sonatas for the Young - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Robert Schumann's dramatic life and transcendent music can be considered an archetype for the Romantic age in which he lived. Most of the works on this recording were written towards the end of his life, and Gesange der Fruhe (Songs of Dawn) was completed just months before Schumann's final breakdown and confinement to the asylum in Endenich, it's strange beauty infused with ideas of double identity. Schumann had his own daughters in mind for the utterly charming Klavier-Sonaten fur die Jugend (Piano Sonatas for the Young), while the earlier sonata movements have recently been transcribed and edited from the composer's incomplete or discarded sketches.
