The Nothing - Dance On The Blacktop - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Direct Hit's third album, Crown Of Nothing, is the Milwaukee, WI quartet's most challenging, elaborate and downright catchy work to date - and it's built around the idea that heaven and hell might very well be the same place. It continues Direct Hit's unique strain of InchF**k you, get pumpedInch party punk they've been honing throughout their decade-long career. Opener InchDifferent UniverseInch has a killer new-wave vibe; InchPain/BoredomInch is a guaranteed circle pit starter that evokes labelmates Pears; InchBad AnswerInch is loaded with fuzz bass, a disco beat and a sax solo that would make the Big Man smile from beyond the grave; InchDisassembleInch is so catchy, it could be something John Feldmann would write for Goldfinger and then sell to Blink-182. Direct Hit pinballs from style to style over Crown Of Nothing's 44-minute runtime, but it never feels schizophrenic - more accurately, it feels like the best mix tape ever. There's a reason why no two Direct Hit songs ever sound quite the same, too. The band returned to producer Mike Kennerty (Masked Intruder, Screeching Weasel), who's captured just about every note Direct Hit has played in the past five years.

At long last, we have the new album from the Minneapolis black metal project, False. After an Untitled EP in 2011, and a split LP with Barghest in 2012, they now return with their first proper full-length album, once again an untitled . Throughout the sixty-minute run time of the album, False dive deeper into the realm of visceral and relentless black metal for which they've become well-known. Their live sound and ferocity is finally captured here, revealing a whole new depth and darkness that has only been hinted at on previous recordings. This album is far from a simple exercise in listening, and more akin to a journey to be experienced. The works contained therein are incredibly bleak and emotionally powerful, with a long lasting impact. This Untitled album was recorded live, mixed, and mastered by Adam Tucker at Signaturetone Recording, with artwork by Nicole Sara Simpkins. It will be presented as an gatefold CD and gatefold 2LP, each pressed in a quantity of 1000 and each housed in a thick, old-style tip-on jacket, printed by Stoughton Printing. Vinyl includes a code.

2018 . Despite what the name implies, Super Whatevr is much more than just another whatever band. Led by vocalist/guitarist Skyler McKee, the SoCal four-piece are poised to break into the alt-indie scene in a big way with their debut album Never Nothing. Combining elements of garage, alternative and emo rock, Super Whatevr have crafted a sound that draws inspiration from bands like Joyce Manor, Japandroids and Alt-J, while remaining distinctly Super Whatevr.
