Q: is this a freezer or do the cubes melt and refreeze?
A: This is not a freezer. This unit operates at 40 degrees. That means the ice is formed then melts. The water then goes down the drain. You are constantly making new ice, losing water and spending unnecessary money on electricity.

Great ice maker for weekend gatherings!
We love our Thor Ice maker! It provides and endless supply of ice for our many weekend gatherings and pairs perfectly with our Margaritaville machine in our pool house! No more running to the store to get ice for every gathering and figuring out where to store it in our limited freezer space! We’ve only had the ice maker about a month but so far, so good! It looks like it’s very well built, so we’re hoping it holds up for a very long time and lives up to the Thor slogan, “Cook Like a God.” The only improvement I would suggest is if they could offer a filter option so you could have filtered ice.

Thor icemaker
I give it 5 stars for its productivity. Ice does tend to clump, and when the pump kicks on it’s noisy. But every brand Ive owned has been noisy.

Thor Icemaker
Very pleased with our Thor Icemaker. We have used in for one month, over the Christmas holidays. Lots of overnight guests and also an open house. Never ran out of ice.
