A: I too, went back and forth between a splitter and this switch, I opted for this switch since it essentially was adding extra ports. I simply plugged one ethernet cable into it directly from my modem, and it allowed me to directly plug my desktop PC and printer (both I use to work from home) into this splitter and have amazing internet speed with no delays. I have extra ports available, should I ever need those.
A: The point of having a switch is to be able to plug in multiple devices at the same time. Obviously, they all can't be running at the maximum speed at the same time unless you are using the switch to transfer data between two plugged in devices - one sending data to the other device. In general, all the devices will share the available bandwidth to the internet.

Solid Ethernet switch
I needed a small switch to put behind my tv, since I only have one Ethernet output and I needed to connect my AppleTV and my PS5. I bought this item and it’s doing great after 2 months, the installation is straightforward, in this 2 months it has never been unplugged and it never failed
