About this product

Vinyl LP pressing. In 2024, after an absence of 35 years, all four original members of '80s band Fairground Attraction reunited to tour Japan and the UK with a brand new studio album, 'Beautiful Happening', including the single, 'What's Wrong With the World?'. The band's debut, 'Perfect', went to Number One not only in the UK but in countries all around the world and, in 1988, it won Best Single at The Brit Awards. It has gone on to be regarded as a genuine pop classic. Like 'Perfect', 'What's Wrong With the World?' was written by the band's guitarist Mark Nevin and sung by their brilliant vocalist, Eddi Reader. In a similar upbeat Country-pop vein as their huge hit, they finally answer the question on everyone's lips 'What's wrong with the world?'. There is no other band like Fairground Attraction - their use of the guitarrón (a large, Mexican acoustic bass), played by Simon Edwards, gives the bottom end of their records a warmth and character that combines with drummer Roy Dodds, Nevin and Reader to create a charming acoustic antidote to all that is modern and digital. When they arrived on the scene all those years ago, their unique sound was described by many as a 'breath of fresh air' and it is even truer today than it was then.

Souldrainer - Departure - Red - VINYL LP

Limited red colored vinyl LP pressing. 2022 . Never imitating, but building upon the bricks laid by bands like Hypocrisy, Pain, Amon Amarth, Rammstein, and Samael, Souldrainer is the representation of the next breed of melodic death metal. With thickly layered rhythm guitars, atmospheric angel choirs, strings ensembles, and ripping vocals, Souldrainer creates distinguished harmonic aggression that hits you harder than a brick-wall-in-your-face.

Frankfurt Radio Big Band - Jim McNeely Expeditions - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

In 2025, the jazz world lost one of it's beloved talents in the arts of composing and arranging with the passing of Jim McNeely. But before he left, McNeely completed and recorded a suite of original music for his long time favored collaborative ensemble, the Frankfurt Radio Big Band. Expeditions is quite a journey, as the music suggests adventures through sound for individual musicians that McNeely had devised unique environments for. Originally from Chicago, Jim McNeely arrived in New York City as a young pianist in 1975, finding work with legends like Ted Curson and the burgeoning younger stars of jazz, like David Liebman and John Scofield. In 1978, McNeely began playing with the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Big Band at the Village Vanguard. A year later, Bob Brookmeyer became the music director of the band when Jones left. Brookmeyer was a major influence and led McNeely into focusing more on composition. Soon, McNeely was penning suites and long form pieces for Germany's WDR Big Band and others. But it was his long relationship with the Frankfurt Radio Big Band that was the longest realized and most rewarding, as McNeely became a resident composer and arranger. It is only right that McNeely's final piece, Expeditions, was written for and performed by the Frankfurt Radio Big Band. After years of working with the Big Band, McNeely had become familiar with all of the principal soloists and section musicians. On Expeditions, McNeely made sure to write in solo features for each member of the group, fully realizing an example set by the legendary Duke Ellington, who famously composed for each member of his vaunted orchestra in mind. Expeditions was premiered and recorded at Frankfurt am Main's hr-Sendesaal, Hessischer Rudfunk on June 13, 2024. Sadly, it would turn out to be McNeely's last premiere and conducting work with the Big Band. The program begins with InchThe Gathering

LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening - VINYL LP

Double vinyl LP pressing. 2010 , the third album proper from James Murphy's LCD Soundsystem, follows 2007's warmly received 'Sounds of Silver'. Musically inspired by late 1970's David Bowie, This Is Happening also has artwork that directly references Bowie's classic 1979 album Lodger. The record retains Murphy's idiosyncratic sense of humour and includes the single 'Drunk Girls'.
