Various Artists - Don't Touch Me Tomato & Other Calypso / Various - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Juxtaposing the musical talents of vocalists Bomber, Wrangler, Killer and Small Island Pride, the art of the 1950s Trinidadian calypso resonates on this recording. These witty songs provide a lesson in picong, the game of teasing intrinsic to the genre, from these crowned Calypso Kings.

If, after perusing the liner notes, the calypso on this compilation Inchstill remains barren of meaning for the gentle listener, he is either blind, deaf, dead, or just a terribly mixed-up kid-what the West Indians sometimes call a zombie!Inch the fast wit and wordplays of calypso are especially pronounced on this compilation by calypsonians like Lord Melody, Mighty Sparrow, Herbert Howard and Mighty Cypher.
