The first notes of Snow are instantly transporting. The guitar is a scratchy, wooden memory laid over a moment of silence. The gently driving organ beat emerges and takes you with it, beginning the next enchanting journey from brother-sister duo, Angus and Julia Stone. InchRunning from the start, here we are again,Inch Julia sings. InchRunning from the start, here we go again,Inch comes her brother's reply. Plot-wise, Snow is yet another confident advance on a story which now accounts for over half a million album sales in Angus & Julia's homeland of Australia alone. The Sydney-born siblings produced and largely engineered it themselves, in Angus's cottage studio, Belafonté, in the Byron Bay hinterland.

The Ainu people, indigenous to the Hokkaido Island of Japan and the Sakhalin and Kuril islands of Russia, presently number in the range of 15,000 to 25,000. Despite geographic proximity to the Japanese and other ethnic groups inhabiting the Russian Far East, the Ainu language and customs are strikingly different from those of their neighbors. Singing is a major feature of Ainu music and part of the daily tribal life, usually presented as either an upopo (sitting song) or rimse (dancing song). Their spirited vocal sounds often imitate animal cries, bird songs, and insect sounds, due to animistic beliefs that elements of nature, plants, and animals are gods. This album illustrates a cross-section of Ainu life, including songs for religious ceremony, working, ritual, and entertainment. Album Tracks 1. Upopo 2. Upopo 3. Iyuta-Upopo 4. Rimse 5. Upopo 6. Horippa 7. Kamuy-Yukar 8. Yukar 9. Sinotcha Followed By a Tus 10. Tus 11. Yaysama 12. Yaysama 13. Chisi-Sinotcha 14. Ihumke
