Vijay Iyer - Wiring - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

A Tribute to of the most influential musicians of all time. Charlie Parker was one of the most innovative and influential musicians of all time, a genius in the true sense of the term. He was born on August 29, 1920 in Kansas City, U.S. The alto saxophone was his main instrument although there are some beautiful recordings of him playing the tenor saxophone as well. His idiom was in jazz where he became the most important architect of modern jazz, often called InchbebopInch. When Parker was asked to describe his style he said, InchIt's just music. It's trying to play clean and looking for the pretty notes.Inch Early on Parker was given the nickname InchYardbirdInch which later was converted to, regarding his musical expression, the very suitable name InchBirdInch. It's astounding to think of how much Parker was able to achieve in his dramatic, chaotic and all to short life. In a way, you might say that he lived with the same blazing speed as he expressed himself on his saxophone. Still today, musicians all around the world are trying to catch up with the Bird. Charlie Parker died in 1955 at the age of 34.

Vijay Iyer / Linda May Han Oh/Tyshawn Sorey - InchCompassionInch / Pianist-composer Vijay Iyer follows his 2021 ECM disc Uneasy - the first to showcase his trio featuring bassist Linda May Han Oh and drummer Tyshawn Sorey - with Compassion, another album in league with these two gifted partners. Compassion, Iyer's eighth as a leader for ECM, continues his drive to explore fresh territory while also referencing his forebears along the way, two of them long associated with the tag. The album was produced by Manfred Eicher and Vijay Iyer.

Anchored in the idea that, despite all obstacles, the human experience casts a net of possibilities, Defiant Life - Vijay Iyer and Wadada Leo Smith's second duo recording for ECM - proves a profound meditation on the human condition and both the suffering and resilience it entails. Recorded within two days at Lugano's Auditorio Stelio Molo, Defiant Life was produced by Manfred Eicher. InchThis recording session was conditioned by our ongoing sorrow and outrage over the past year's cruelties, but also by our faith in human possibility.Inch - Vijay Iyer
