Time for Dreams - Life Of The Inhabitant - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The second album from Melbourne duo Time for Dreams (Tom Carlyon/ Amanda Roff) is ambitious & expansive. A bleaker, dehydrated, more sci-fi proposition than the band's debut In Time (IT-LP-09). Born of a desire to create something romantic. Not sexy, swoony romantic but terrible/lonely/beautiful romantic, set in the ruins of the currently unfolding apocalypse.Life of the Inhabitant has a narrative bent, setting characters in scenes - suburbs drenched in secrets, violence and occult practices (New Conflict Dream), apocalyptic coliseums (Designing the New World), frozen lakes (A World of your Own), isolated colonies (A Million Miles) feudal fortresses (Death To All Actors). Outside the Citadel is described by Carlyon as InchAmanda and I looking out from our fortified cave over the desert with our samplers, SM57's, and AK47s, listening to Miles Davis and drinking orange and cinnamon tea.InchA truly remarkable record of dark and sophisticated, electronic, bad-dream pop. Whenyoung - Reasons To Dream - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Whenyoung are Aoife Power (Vocals/Bass), Niall Burns (Guitar), Andrew Flood (Drums). Their story started in Limerick, Ireland... three underage teenagers met for the first time after sneaking into Costello's Tavern the only bar in town that floated their musical tastes. After bonding over cheap vodka and the sound of The Velvet Underground, they began playing music together and moved to Dublin to seek some big city excitement. Developing their sound, still with a DIY approach, the band moved to London in 2017 to become whenyoung. Following on from their captivating singles 'Actor' and 'Pretty Pure', whenyoung have released their latest track 'Heaven On Earth' through Virgin EMI. Showcasing the band's ability to match up melody with guitar bite, 'Heaven On Earth' is a huge powerhouse of a tune. Singer Aoife Power's attitude soaked vocals soar over a snaking bassline, jangly guitar riff and powerful drums, all culminating in a massive chorus. 2018 has already been a landmark year for the young band. It's seen them perform in Dublin as part of Shane MacGowan's 60th birthday celebration alongside the likes of Nick Cave and Sinead O'Connor. They've supported Dream Wife, Declan McKenna, The Vaccines and Peace. If you liked The Cranberries you will love this band.

The Element - Time - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

A long awaited reissue of this AOR gem from France. Featuring Rafael Garrido (Warning), Patrick Rondat, Hermann Frank (Accept). Born and formed in West Germany in the spring of 1984 under the name Energy, by Rafael Garrido (ex-Warning, vocals), Hermann Frank (ex-Accept - guitars), Wolf Hettmer (Bass), Tilo Heider (drums), and, for a short while, Kai Hansen (guitars). This first group, with the help of Michael Wagener, experimented producing a first demo despite the various egos that tugged at it. Following a complete turnaround, the new outfit was joined by Fred Guillemet (bass), Charly Torino (drums), Patrick Rondat (guitars), and Stefan Kurten (piano & keyboards). At the end of 1984, completing the production initiated by Rafael and under the name Hazzard, Herman Frank produced this new group on his own. In March 1985, Energy transformed into Stilelement and then The Element. This was followed by a first 8-track album, co-produced and directed by Rafael InchRalph TowersInch Garrido and Wolfgang Hermes, under the album name Time. In 1986, The Element signed a license with Rock Records/Polygram. Praised by the national and international press, it failed to secure adequate distribution despite numerous efforts, including MIDEM. This resulted in a debacle that was somewhat attributed to the shortcomings of a poorly restructured showbiz industry lacking A&R resources due to copying and the free nature of websites at the time.
