The AP-553 Replacement Arca-Type Foot, designed by Wimberley, is a high-quality, durable adapter for telephoto lenses, specifically crafted for Nikon 500mm f/4 AF-S (I & II) and 200-400 f/4 AF-S VR lenses. This sturdy accessory replaces the original tripod collar foot, seamlessly converting the collar to an Arca-style clamp capability, eliminating the need for additional quick release plates. Engineered to reduce critical mass and lower the profile of the lens, this replacement foot is ideally suited for use with the Wimberley Sidekick. It effectively lowers the overall height of the lens by approximately 2" for the 500mm f/4 and 1.25" for the 200-400mm f/4, enhancing the lens's stability and ease of use. Please note, this particular plate mounts so closely to the lens that it may be challenging to use the plate as a handle. However, every adapter plate is equipped with both 3/8"-16 & 1/4"-20 holes, allowing you to directly attach the lens to a monopod or tripod (without an Arca-style clamp) if desired. In addition, the design incorporates drilled holes necessary to attach any of the flash brackets from Wimberley, Really Right Stuff & Kirk Enterprises. Each adapter comes complete with all the necessary hardware and tools to make the conversion, as well as retaining screws to prevent the lens from falling to the ground should you mistakenly unscrew the clamp.
