Ys 9 is another fantastic game from Falcom, further strengthening the Ys series. If you are a newcomer to the series Ys 9 is as good an entry as any since there each game stands on it's own without needing to know much about the previous games. Ys 9 made a few allusions to the land of Altago and Laxia from previous games, but not anything that greatly detracts from the story if you haven't played 7 or 8. The strongpoints here again are gameplay and story. The characters are likeable, but not really deep in the way that they are in Falcoms other main series Trails are. The music is great like Falcoms jdk band always delivers, though it is a step down from Ys VIII. The graphics are slightly better than Ys VIII's but if you are concerned with graphics you probably want the PS4 or PC version rather than the switch version anyway. There are problems with terrible framerate, especially in town when you spawn many enemies in confined quarters. I had the game crash a few times also, but got in the habit of saving pretty regularly and restarting the game rather than just putting my switch into sleep since there seems to be a problem with memory dump with certain games. Overall it's a great game that I'd heartily recommend with one caveat. If you are interested in the series but haven't played Ys VIII first, that game is better in almost every way and I'd fully recommend playing that first.

An absolutely amazing ride, Adol is at it again, definately a worthy addition to the Ys franchise and the continuation of Adol's adventure. Overall its an absolutely amazing and fun game, not as good as Lacrimosa of Dana, but a must play. In its current state the game plays very well on the switch, if you can get it in a different platform, it will have better performance, but I didnt have any issues playing this on the switch and on the go! The story of the game is episodic and builds up little by little until the last two chapters (total of 9 chapters). Quite a few side quests and a nice amount of upgrades/equipment. The fast pace hack and slash combat really separate this game from a lot of other RPGs out there. I absolutely recommend this game, if you can get it in a discount, definately get it!

Ys IX is the latest game in Falcom's Ys series. Adol's adventures continue in this game with a fun new twist. The monstrum abilities make exploring a lot of fun and gives this game a unique feeling compared to other Ys games. Like Ys VIII the game retains the party system and other battle mechanics while also focusing more on the story. You still get to explore but it can seem more limited because of the city. The pact edition includes a small soundtrack sample and a mini art book. The game also has DLC. Some costume, weapon skins, and items. None of this changes the game in any significant way.

If you've played any of the Ys series from the last 30 years, this one is another great entry. Battle is smooth while switching between 3 members of your 6 person party. Moves are varied and combat is slick. Some slowdown on battles in the Nox areas but manageable. It is slow even on the PS4 slim. PS5 patch seems to improve it. Portability is great on the switch though! The manual inside was a nice surprise!

I enjoyed Ys VIII so much, I decided to give the next one in the series a try as well. It looks great, it plays great, I enjoy the music. Solid action RPG, it's been really fun for me. I find the characters really likable, the story was paced well and engaging, and the combat was excellent as well.

Ys IX is the latest entry in the long running Ys series, and this one is great fun too. Most of the game takes place in a city and its surrounding area, so it is significantly less colorful than its predecessor, though the gameplay is just as good, with new twists, like the Monstrum powers.

Adol, the intrepid protagonist behind the long-running action RPG series YS, is back with a new adventure on the series' ninth entry. This story-heavy game features great combat, fun exploration (everywhere from prisons and and catacombs to castles and mountain passes), and characters you end up really caring about through its 40+ hour runtime. The Ys games have a reputation for selling out and going up in price, so get it while it's still available!

If you liked Y's VIII you will like Y's IX. This comes with a mini art book and a digital code for a soundtrack. The game has better graphics on the PS4/PS5 but it works well on the Switch. This is a very passable port. If you are a fan of this series then you will love this game. Its nice to have it portably as well.

I love Ys games. I have only played Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana and it was amazing. I love Ys music in their games and along with the fun gameplay I definitely recommend. Though if you have a PS4/5 I would go with that version. Also I would recommend playing on a Pro Controller.

Great game, great action RPG. Doesn't run as well on Switch as some other platforms, but I found it to run well enough. The city is a lot of fun to explore.

I will try to summarize just how AMAZING this game is, starting with the music. It's just the kind of music that helps you get your gamer blood flowing for the battles that are coming your way! The graphics are beautiful, vibrant, and even on Switch, they work right! The controls are tight, take some time to master, but it becomes intuitive after the first hour of gameplay; and then this game has secrets hidden around, so you'll be coming back for more of this game until your thumbs lose all feeling! HIGHLY recommended!

If you loved Ys 8 on the switch you're gonna love this as well. Same gameplay and improved story with a more mature concept and topics
