    Stunning picture

Really impressed with this TCL QM8L 65 inch. The picture is ultra sharp and the brightness makes the picture look great in our very well lit living room. Very little glare from the windows. I also enjoy the Google TV environment and integration into our smart home system. This tv definitely competes with higher end models and is well worth the money.

    Beautiful tv!

Holy crap this thing is amazing, just switched out from my Samsung Q80A I bought new and what a difference!! Colors are stunning, black levels are dark! The picture is so extremely clear! Gaming is on another level, I play my series X and I’ve never had a better gaming experience besides on pc. Speakers are actually not terrible, could it use a sub and soundbar? Sure.. but this is my bedroom tv mounted at the foot of the bed and is plenty of sound. The UI on here from the Samsung was worth the upgrade alone!! The Samsung was so GD slow, you would need to turn it on and let it warm up before trying to do anything. This one you turn it on and it’s ready to go. Now it’s not perfect there is some lip syncing issues I’ve noticed on some apps and minor bugs but so far 9.5/10 versus my Samsung. Never thought of TCL as a name brand but I wil be looking at them going forward. I have put the Govee tv light kit with this and I don’t think I’ll be going to the movie theater again for a long time.

    Not quite there yet

This TV has the capability to be one of the best TV’s on the market. However it’s not quite there yet. First of all it cannot connect to Alexa. A lot of us have prime and have Alexa. Next I was able to get it connected to Alexa through the TCL connect app but all you can do is turn the TV off. This is because there is NO WAY to keep the network card active even with all power saving options turned off. TCL support says 2026 Google TV’s no longer support Alexa. Next the stand has two settings. If you set it so the TV is raised up for a sound bar it’s not high enough and it blocks the IR for the remote and light sensor if you have that enabled. The display is the brightest and most jaw dropping display if you have a perfect input. Nothing even comes close. However the image processing needs to be improved. If you are using DirecTV the image is not so good. There are artifacts in the letters and it don’t look right. You can improve this by going into the Gemini air settings and making the resolution 1080p and turn off HDR and Chroma 2.2. But even after improving some things because of the image processing and brightness the shadow areas don’t local dim correctly having disasterous results. I really wanted to keep this TV. But had to return it. If TCL engineers can come up with software updates to fix these issues it will be the best TV on the market ! Value wise with all the sound format options and video formats available on it it’s the most complete next to Sony. Samsung and LG don’t offer all of the sound and video options like TCL does. I hope that TCL can fix these issues. I’d be willing to try one out and rate it if they would like me to.
