Looks better than it works
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved this portable air conditioner when I first got it, but after using it only six times it stop working. I tried my best to get it back running and thought I had did so, but as soon as the hot sun hit my windows the air conditioner turn itself off again and again. Unfortunately I will have to return it tomorrow and exchange it for a new one, because Insignia discontinued all of their portable air conditioners after I bought mine. Ugh

Great for medium size room works fast
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this for a 280sq ft upstairs room. It's 2 rooms but there is not door between so we had hoped it was enough. It wasn't because the air couldn't travel to the other side. We still use a small window unit on the opposite side room and there is no problem cooling. This works very quickly and has not seemed to up the electric bill as much as using 2 window units.

Good AC
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This AC is a good model/brand for a reasonable price. Very convenient and easy to setup (plug & play). The only issue I ran into is that the AC struggles a bit to get to the exact temp you set it up to be at. It also fills with water quickly (unless mine is defective). Unlike similar models/brands, this one does not go down to 60F. The dry feature fills up the water tank within a few hours (once again mine could possibly be defective) but it gives you the "max AC". The unfortunate operations of this product is the reason it got 4 stats not 5.

Good Unit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This air conditioner keeps my small apt cool. I was able to set up exhaust out sliding window by buying door insulation and having a stick cut for safety so window can't be opened. I do wish the low fan speed was slower and higher speeds can be a little noisy. Mine has a metal rattling sound when at higher speeds that's annoying. It is something inside where two pieces of metal are vibrating but I'm not going to try and take it apart to fix it. I think this is much easier to set up then a window unit. Overall happy with purchase.

Great price for a good portable AC
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PROs 1. It functions as I need it to 2. was easy to set up 3. was a reasonable price CONs 1. I have standard 36" window and the window adapter kit had to be trimmed by almost 6" to fit. I happened to have my hand saw in the next room so it was an easy fix for me. 2. The buttons on the remote are VERY small. Survivable problem. 3. The unit is moderately loud. Isn't much of a problem unless you're trying to have a conversation when it's set at "medium" or "high".

Good product so far
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I shopped several stores before Best Buy. I wanted a larger unit(1400 but) but no one had one. So I settled for this unit. Instructions are bad ! Some attachment screws were missing but only 2 so no big deal. It works good , cools a 350 cubic foot upstairs room. NC is humid and the water storage tank filled in about a hour and a half. Had to go buy a hose hook up to the drain, buy a container lower then the drain. 8-10 hours about 2-3 gallons of water. Purchased extended warranty. The factory warranty requires you ship this heavy 75 pound unit to a repair facility at your cost. So far I like this unit, cools good. I would recommend this unit, just be aware of the water problem.

Great ac
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works better than most air conditioners and keeps our bedroom nice and cool. After 5 years the hose comes off sometimes but easy to replace or we’ve just taped it. Will buy again

Q: QuestionDoes this ac unit have to be emptied?
Asked by Rick.
- A:Answer YES.....even if it is not on dry. However, it will not let you know/ give an indicator (FL) unless on dry. Mine started spitting water from the front. I switched it to dry and immediately got (FL) on the screen and it shut off. Best buy doesn't include a user guide with it, only a set up guide. I had to go online to find out what was going on. So on page 23 it tells you to use a syphon to get the water out (guess what Best buy doesn't sell one even though it is required to empty it). I bought a Frigidaire the same day I bought this one. I bought a dehumidifier hose for that one, screwed it on and let it drain out of the window next to outlet vent. EASY. Still trying to figure out a solution to this one since I am not physically able to unplug, disconnect the vent hose, and syphon the water (clean up afterwards) every time it needs empting.

Q: QuestionJust want to know, if it has a container that has to be empty out?
Asked by Pandava.
- A:Answer Yes and it is not removable. It requires a syphon that bestbuy doesn't sell.

Q: QuestionDescription for this 10,000 BTU Air Conditioner says it cools an161 sq ft room. 10,000 BTU air conditioners are supposed to cool up to 350 sq. ft. but they cost more, is that hte reason for being cheaper, less efficiency and wasting energy?
Asked by twaner.
- A:Answer I had the same question about his product; I figured that the online listing of the sq. ft. cooling capability was incorrect, given the BTU rating of the unit. It should theoretically cool an area of about 350 sq. ft. However after running it late in the afternoon for a couple of hours each day in mid 80 degree temp. this unit barely cooled down my living area that is approximately 400 sq. ft. in my apartment by a few degrees. I will be returning this unit and will buy the 14,000 BTU Insignia unit that is listed to cool up to a 500 sq. ft. space.

Q: QuestionWhat do I do if the bottom inside my insignia is full of water ? Will it affect it later?
Asked by Maria19.
- A:Answer I try to pull the little black plug every 30 minutes when its really humid and hold a cup up to it as it will pump out half a cup usually. When i use it in a large room over 400 sqft the auto evap does not keep up to the moisture and the bottom fills with water. I just take the back off and tilt the unit on its back in the shower or on the deck..... seems annoying but honestly after all the reviews on other units this is a super underrated ac unit.

Q: QuestionHow noisy is this ac
Asked by Scott.
- A:Answer Just bought one now pretty loud but seems like the AC that I got might have been brought back and put for resale. Will probably bring it back to see if this is normal
