Good TV for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased this TV during the Memorial Day sale. The price was right for a 55" class television. It replaced a 50" Samsung TV in my bedroom. Overall I like the TV for what it is: a big TV for not a lot of money. I'm still trying to get the picture adjusted to where I like it. It does have some 'soap opera' effect, or at least that is what I call it. It has enough HDMI ports, something that other makers are stingy with on their less expensive models. It's sleep timer works differently from my last TV. On it you could do a one time setup and it would turn on and off by itself at the times that I had selected. I miss this feature but I make do with this TV's version of a sleep timer. It's OTA tuner doesn't seem to be quite as good at picking up stations as my old TV did. I think that it has okay sound but I do use a sound bar with it. You can label each of the inputs with a proper name. My inputs are named Tivo, Blu-ray, and firetv. This is better than just a generic name like Cable or DVR or Input 1. I am happy with my purchase.

Good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would rate it 5 stars but I reserve that for amazing things. TV is solid. I bought 2 and hung them above my 70. I use this to watch sports on as we game on the 70 and the other 55. They great for gaming. May need to mess with settings to make it brighter. Sports and movies look great on them too. Good sound. And $430 a tv was a steal

Note enough pluggins in the back for other items

Posted .We're sorry the television did not meet your needs for all the connections you required. That particular unit has three HDMI ports, one coaxial port, and one combined component/composite set of connections. For future reference, the number and type of connection ports is typically on the outside of the box as well as on our website under the "Specifications" tab. Most newer models do tend to have limited analog ports since most devices are digital, as a result if you are requiring additional component/composite connections it may require an external analog switch to change between multiple devices of that type.

Good Value, Great Picture!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first purchase of an Insignia product and I was hesitant. I did not know what to expect but I am pleasantly surprised of the quality despite the low price. Getting the TV out of the box and installing the base was surprisingly easy, even doing it all by myself without any help. Hats off to the engineers who made the process simple. I will soon hang the TV on a wall mount when I have time, and I do not foresee an issue yet with a vesa format wall mount with the positioning of the inputs and buttons. SO far no dead pixels, the back-lighting is great although it is no plasma TV. The speakers are powerful and I had to keep the volume below 12 ! I hooked up a Roku drive, opened Netflix and the movies look great! I also hooked up the antenna and the TV seems to adjust the channels' display format to the display automatically. There are options in the menu to zoom in as well. I also plan to play some PC games on this so I will rate the display quality on that later. I will update this review later to share any new observations.

Overall Happy with purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am overall happy with this LED especially since this is my first big screen purchase. I am satisfied with the screen size, love the glass base and the price was definitely a plus. Delivery service was GREAT! The only complaints I have is some channels do not show up as sharp as other channels but this is something that I can overlook. The other is the sound: from reviews of other major brand 50 and over inch screen LED's, there is a problem with poor sound quality. I notice that I have to turn sound up significantly (30 level volume) but I will correct this by buying a sound bar. For someone on a budget, such as myself, I am thrilled to be able to purchase this sizeTV, including warranty for $500 and some change (got this while it was on sale).

Overall, OK.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from an HD TV to LED and was hoping for a little more than I got. But the price was really decent and it does what I need it to. The downside is that it only has three HDMI ports and as you know, everything uses HDMI these days. So I've reduced the arsenal of electronics and it's all good. Picture quality is decent. Blacks could be deeper black but again, you get what you pay for. The staff at best buy are very helpful and can always set you up with a great TV if you know what you are looking for and know what you want to spend.

Q: Questionmotion blurHow can I cut down on the motion blur and ghosting. What are the best settings for this
Asked by joeb.
- A:Answer While I haven't experienced motion blur or ghosting on my 55" Insignia, you could try setting the picture mode to Game to see if that helps. The Game mode on this TV may be optimized for minimum motion blur since when you select Game mode the TV display blanks out for a moment (unlike the other picture modes where they change instantly). To me, this indicates that Game mode is changing more than just picture controls in the video processor.

Q: QuestionOptimum screen settingsWhat are the best screen settings? Game vs movie?
Asked by JoeP.
- A:Answer The Vivid, Standard, and Energy Saver picture presets are ok for brightly lit rooms. These settings boost contrast and color along with turning on Adaptive Contrast to give the picture some punch. However, these settings should not be confused with "accurate" color and contrast. The best settings to yield natural color and brightness for home theater viewing are best made in the Custom picture mode. Using several Blu Ray calibration discs, I arrived at these settings: BACKLIGHT: 35 (or higher if you have more ambient light in the room) BRIGHTNESS: 49 (preserves perfect video black) CONTRAST: 44 (preserves perfect video white) COLOR: 42 (prevents saturation of red and blue channels) TINT: 0 SHARPNESS: 30 DYNAMIC BACKLIGHT: Off COLOR TEMP: Warm ADAPTIVE CONTRAST: Off (eliminates video signal clipping) The other settings not mentioned can be set to your preference. If you use the above settings with a good HD source, they will produce the most natural picture. Again, most people are used to Vivid mode since this is the default setting for high ambient light rooms like the showroom at BB. At home, you will probably grow to like more subdued settings given some time.
