Q: How does the adjustable stand work? Is it required to use the TV?

A: Hello Demitri, thank you for your interest in the Hisense 85U6SF-PRO. The adjustable stand on this model allows you to change the spacing between the TV legs to fit different TV stands or furniture sizes. The TV has two sets of mounting positions on the bottom, letting you install the legs either wider or closer together. Using the wider position provides the most stability, while the narrower position reduces the TV's footprint, making it easier to place on smaller TV stands. Using the stand is optional if you plan to wall-mount the TV. Thanks again, Harley with the Hisense Support Team.

Q: Is this 85 inch model have an ips panel?

A: Hello Hisense Customer, Thank you for your interest in the Hisense 85U6SF-PRO. This model features a VA panel. Thank you, Harley with the Hisense Support Team.

Q: Does this TV run the new Vega OS or the older Android-based Fire TV OS?

A: Hello Hisense Customer, Thank you for your interest in the Hisense 85U6SF. The model has a Android-based Fire Operating System. Thanks again, Harley with the Hisense Support Team.

VALUE display, feed 4k CONTENT, poor UPSCALING

This unit replaces as 75-inch Sony Bravia purchased 2021 that was installed in the arcade as the centerpiece of the console gaming center. The Sony was fine, __ until __ a friend staying the night and dragged a duvet / comforter out of the room that snagged on a KEF LS-50 Meta sand filled speaker base, _and_ cracked the Sony and spider webbed across the vertical and horizontal impact zone. While not perfect (it was 2021 after all) I thought that image was quite decent and had compliments on that 75-inch over the side-by-side 65-inch Sony. I guess now in retrospect I was never content with DirecTV HLG+ HDR Content which somewhat muted the colors on 4k broadcasts. Well all that has changed, quite dramatically with the addition / replacement of this 85-inch Hisense U6 Pro Mini-LED. The HDR is night-and-day difference, esp comp to the Sony 75 it replaced, though UPSCALING lower-resolution sources do not stack up. The POP and PUNCH and color accuracy (red is red, NOT light orange, … green is green, NOT lime) can NOT be understated, ON 4k SOURCES. If this is entry level Mini-LED I can not even imagine what the U7, U8 or U9 offer., nor do I wish to tempt myself if I’m being honest bc the images thrown by this are surreal and satisfying. 4k from Apple TV looks great, and 4k, 8k, 16k YouTube clips look better on this set than the 130-inch image thrown by a JVC NZ7 projector costing 8-10x as much. Dare I say, at the risk of getting flamed;…, the 85-inch screen size, is _almost_ too big, granted our arcade is quite small and cramped, so viewing distance is a mere 6 feet from the screen. Playing Forza Horizon 6 sitting that close is visually stunning, borderline over-stimulating. In a standard living room where 12-15 foot viewing distance it is nowhere near as overwhelming. I will say my main living room display is an LG OLED 83 that is consistently smoother, with far better upscaling and deeper black levels, and probably if monitored on calibration gear more accurate than the U6 Pro which for gaming I (cough cough) actually do leave it on Vivid mode which I realize should revoke my home theater dude card. Likewise, this set has a surprisingly respectable audio system, with built-in subwoofer, though no self-respecting HT nerd uses TV speakers now that incredible soundbars like the JBL 1300Mk2 is available (reviewed recently and still impressed) and dedicated surround sound AVRs are more affordable than ever. Full retail price of this 85-inch at $2k is reasonable, but it is often on sale for $700 to $800 less than that, making it an incredible bargain. PROS +HUGE upgrade over edge-lit displays +Native 144 hertz VRR gaming mode +AMD FreeSync +Ultra low-latency +auto-sense Game Mode +anti-glare limits reflections +Dolby Atmos with built-in subwoofer +2500 Pantone colors (certified) +AI Light sensor (auto brightness) CONS -the menu “click” sound feels odd, disconnected and delayed -poor “AI upscaling” processor, esp on 720p and 1080p sources, -don’t be fooled by $1999 retail, while street is closer to $1200 CONCLUSION Do yourself a favor and ask yourself what you want in a TV. If it’s Big and Bright 85-inch on a budget, WITH 4k video sources (Apple TV, 4k UHD discs, Zidoo, YouTube) then go for it. If it’s lower-resolution TV feeds, cable or DirecTV 720p / 1080p feeds, you are likely to be disappointed by the pixelation unless your seating arrangement is 10-15 feet away. My tight space arrangement has me 6 feet away where the degradation of quality is exaggerated. RECOMMEND Buy if you want budget 2026 MiniLED technology, decent blacks (better than LED, but NOT near OLED blacks) with a BIG Bright picture. If PQ is of utmost importance, OR you watch some lower-resolution sources (Cable/Sat/Blueray) then pass on this and just get OLED, MiniRGB, or SQLED.

    HUGE AND IMPRESSIVE!

First of all, let's address the elephant in the room. Literally, the elephant! This Hisense 85" tv is MASSIVE! Prior to purchasing it, you should definitely decide if you have a space large enough to accommodate this television! Not only is it large, but it is fairly heavy as well. You will not be lifting this on your own due to it's shape and the fact it weighs in just over 100lbs. It comes with attachable feet for the bottom, but if you plan on wall mounting it, be sure to get one that supports the VESA pattern on the back and the overall weight of the tv. Other than the size and weight noted, this thing is awesome! After I turned it on, I logged into my existing Amazon Fire TV account and the software immediately updated. Once I set it up, I immediately navigated to some 4k video content. I was blown away. The depth and clarity of the picture is some of the best I have seen on a 4k tv. The picture quality is amazing! There are many different adjustments that can be made to the video output so you can fine tune the picture to your liking. Not only is the picture quality amazing, but so is the audio quality! This Hisense has a built in subwoofer! After digging around in the audio settings, I also found a familiar name attributed to the great sound quality! Apparently, the audio is tuned by Devialet! I have some experience with their speakers, which are amazing as well. We initially hooked up a sound bar we had to the tv, but when we heard the speakers, we disconnected it, as it was not needed! I was impressed by the price point on this tv as well! For the quality of the item, I felt like the price was not bad at all. Especially when you compare similar specs from other brands! All in all, this is an impressive tv! You won't be disappointed!

Over time, the “smart” capabilities became so difficult, slow, and buggy that I stopped using them and switched to a Fire TV stick. That mostly works pretty well but input switching is not seamless and the remote control over HDMI CEC doesn’t always work so I need to often juggle two remotes. It’s about time for an upgrade but whoa, I was not expecting how much difference things would make.

First, let’s start with the elephant in the room, a 85” monster of a panel. I honestly did not fully appreciate how much bigger the 85” would be until it was delivered on a pallet! The TV alone is pushing close to twice the weight of its 55” counterpart. Boxed, it definitely is tipping the scales at over 80lbs and that’s after you get it out of the wood frame that it ships in for protection. I thought the 55” was a buy once keep forever due to its size but it’s downright portable by comparison. Needing the deal with the weight is forcing rethinking my mounting option. I had what was a pretty good setup with a motorized mount that stows the TV above the fireplace mantle and lowers it down for a more neck friendly viewing angle. Currently, the 85” is in a different room where it sits on the stand on the floor. By itself, that’s enough height for good viewing. If I didn’t have a fireplace that’s actively used or kiddos who play in that area, that would be the perfect spot. Input/output wise, it is the same as other Hisense TVs, four HDMI, two USB, one LAN, one optical audio, with WiFi and Bluetooth. Yes, on the rare occasions you want to watch TV without waiting others, you can. Picturewise, wow. I’m completely blown away by the contrast ratio. What that translates into is very deep black and colors really popping. LED always had this benefit and the mini LEDs here are amazing. If this holds up even 5 years, it will be well worth it as we reach a point where we are having more movie nights at home. The gaming mode refresh rate rivals my dedicated monitor and even supports AMD free sync. Playing at 85” is very immersive and even without being curved or enclosed like in a 3D headset, you really feel a lot more into the game as your FOV is pretty well dominated by the screen. Seated at the normal distance and the screen can’t help but fill most of your vision, especially in a dark room where only the screen is lit. And yes, I can go back to just having the TV itself as my smart TV. Apps load quickly and I no longer have the random glitching or loading that plagued the older Hisense. Given that my Fire TV box from 2014 is still running strong, I have a lot of confidence in the longevity of this as a Smart TV. Another surprise is the sound from this TV. Definitely an improvement over what Hisense has done in the past. Deep bass and more natural sound from the TV speakers. I’ll still use my semi 7.1 system but the times when it’s glitchy and refusing to connect to the TV will not be much of a disappointment. My system is one that’s made up of a soundbar like device to which two satellite speakers dock plus a remote sub. The bar itself has two up firing and three front firing speakers so even without detaching the remote speakers, it does a good job. That the TV itself does a good job replicating that on its own is pretty awesome.

If you’re looking to build out a theater or game room, this is an excellent choice. I’m still on the fence on wall mounting this beast but it does have VESA mounting holes. Running FireTV provides reasonable assurance that the apps will get update and remain performant for a long while to come. My only caveat is that if you have young children, ensure you have a secure mounting solution.

    Surprisingly nice mid-priced TV!

I needed to upgrade our Family Room TV on a budget, so when I was searching for a value priced 85 inch TV, this one stood out from the crowd immediately. I read a bunch of reviews, and pretty much everyone thought that it was above average for a typical LED TV, had great blacks, colors were vibrant, and HDR picture quality was above average. It supports Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HDR 10+, and has Fire TV built right into it! its only a 60hz panel, which was disappointing, but after hooking it up and adjusting the video settings, I was surprised at how good the picture actually was! I own a couple OLED TV's already, and even though this wasn't an OLED, the picture quality was surprisingly nice. The sound quality was only fair, but I have a Sonos sound system to connect to it, so once I did, the sound was very nice. Unfortunately, the viewing Angles are only fair, and, unlike my OLED tv's, once you are off to the side of the tv, the picture starts to fade and isn't very good, but sitting directly in front of it, things were much better. I use an Nvidia shield with this TV, since the "smart streaming" features included on this and most other modern TV's are weak at best, so I always use 3rd party streaming boxes with them. The packaging on this monster TV was great, was easy to set up with 2 people, and if you are looking for a giant TV for your family room, but don't want to break the bank, this is a very good choice.
