This is a not a flight simulator, but still complex enough to be interesting. The story and characters are forgettable if not a little annoying at times.

It's just an okay game. I think Blazing Angels is a much better military flying game.

First off this game is one of the best flight games available on the XBOX 360. It does have its moments, but to those of you that say the story is basic, its because you are expecting a movie, you can't do that especially with a videogame. You are the character. The point of the game is that you have to personify your emotions as what the character is feeling right then.
Second off is that the levels actually give you some variety, if you played previous ACE games then you are used to one fixed battle every level every time. In ACE 6 you can have multiple battles that your assistance effects the outcome for better or for worse. Meaning picking and choosing the right plane and armnament for the mission means even more. Also the fact that those same assets can provide Allied Support later on is excellent. Those of you stuck on the Ragno Fortress level and the tunnel flying should take a look back at, Ace 04 and Ace 5 both had massive tunnel flying portions in them and they were still beatable. You have to be willing to adjust to the level design not just rush through it hauling everything you have.
Finally the game is actually in a very modern setting opposed to what some reviewers say, the technology is where we are at. In fact it is truly ahead of what we consider modern, I want to see a flying aircarrier in real life. The planes are topnotch in fact they are modeled perfectly after their real world counterparts. Also with all Ace Combat series there is a secret X-Plane, but you will have to buy the game in order to see it.
Oh, and multiplayer is an added bonus, but playing a game in multiplayer can come down to who has which type of missile over who can maneuver better. The better part to it is the Coop which allows play of a level from the game or a modified level by up to four players. Which brings teamwork in picking plane type and weapon type essential for mission success.

The graphics of the planes and landscapes are much improved from the previous series. A couple of new things that I like are 1)high G maneuver makes dodging missiles and quick turnaround easy 2)allied attack/cover are useful unlike previous AC games but I think it's kinda silly that they will only attack when I tell them to. The purpose of a wingman is still unknown to me. He's still proven to be useless other than he'll warn me about someone's in my tail. I think I can see the radar and listen to the audio warning myself, buddy. Majority of the missions seem longer because the maps are much larger and more targets to destroy. But I'd like to see a few short missions with different objectives than blow everything up. Overall it's worth a purchase.

I have played all the recent ace combat series and i was over impressed and this game actually took me by surprise in a lot of good ways such as graphics, AMAZING campaign and pretty good online too. I love the planes and of course my two favourites (F15-E + F22-R)
Ways they could have improved:
Better crashing effects
More planes (theres only 30)
More realism.
CAMPAIGN: 4.1
MULTIPLAYER: 3.9
OVERALL: 4.0
Outstanding

Overall, i would say this game was a good game and that most of the time spent on it was worth it. HOwever, there were some pros and some cons. First of all, this was a great game to play at home by yourself if you dont have live but can also be fun online but watch your tail, some of these guys can really fly. Although i had a good time playing the missions and buying jets and different kinds of weapons, i feel like some of the missions took too long, expecially if you fail one or to times. But i had a good time playing and i promise that if you like flying games that this is one good simulation.

i truly enjoyed this game. campaign mode has more than a dozen missions (15), with at least as many planes to fly, including the new F-22 Raptor and several foreign planes.
each mission took me from 20 minutes to an hour, so the game is good for hours of play. if you enjoy flight sim and combat games, i would highly recommend Ace Combat 6.
i do have to agree with one reviewer, saying that some parts are rather unrealistic, having you fly into tunnels. however, these are challenging scenes, and help to make the game a little more exciting.
