Great small laptop with Windows 8.1
||Posted .Acer E111 is a great little laptop 11.6 in. Has a great setup, installation and configuration program making it easy and functional to start using it right away. Has nice features and after cleaning up some programs that I don't use it performs well. Good for a starter or travel laptop.

Inexpensive laptop with some performance tradeoffs
||Posted .This laptop is running the latest generation Intel Celeron CPU (codenamed Bay Trail-M) which was recently announced in Feb of 2014. This CPU has a very low maximum power consumption (only 7.5W, geared mainly for tablets) which allows this product to be designed without any kind of cooling fan and ensures it will run quiet during use (will only hear the hard drive). While the absence of a fan is nice, the downside is that the processor lacks the horsepower of the higher end mobile Intel processors. This, combined with the fact that the laptop only has 2GB of RAM (and quite difficult to user upgrade), means that this laptop is best suited to use with a limited number of applications simultaneously (say 1-3) to avoid overtaxing the CPU or exhausting the limited memory on the system. Additionally, the unit only comes with a non-removable 3-cell Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) 2640 mAh battery which is smaller in capacity than the step up Aspire models from Acer. This was most likely done as a cost saving measure but means that this model won't be capable of seeing the 7-8+ hour battery life that is possible on other compact laptops. On a positive note, the laptop does come with the latest (at time of writing) Windows 8.1 which is quite nice and ensures access to the latest security fixes and applications that are available on the Windows OS. If your budget is tight or if you only plan to use this laptop on a limited basis, say for writing up reports/homework, the odd Facebook session or infrequent travel, this laptop may just do the trick.

Affordable Basics
||Posted .I purchased this for my brother to use as a basic daily use PC for writing documents for school and surfing the net. This is a great affordable laptop for simple daily tasks, however there are some noticeable features that makes it not worth the entire 5 stars. Mostly the low amount of RAM affects performance but if you can get over the fact that something takes 20 seconds to load instead of 2 then upgrading isn't necessary. I chose to upgrade the RAM to 8GB which boosted performance immensely. Another issue was actually finding compatible RAM to upgrade with, the RAM type is DDR3L SDRAM and while it says the max clock rate is 1333 MHz, the RAM inside was clocked at 1600 MHz which I had to find out by using a program called HWInfo. So that being said, even though it says it cannot take anything higher it clearly can and will without any issues. The reason I say that I would not recommend this to a friend is because it's a very basic, low performing machine meant to be cost effective but it's more of a budget barebones notebook and I would recommend increasing your budget and finding something with better specs.

great for what i needed
||Posted .For such an inexpensive computer, its awesome. I bought this laptop for my daughter to use during our vacation. I wanted something inexpensive and lightweight but more involved than my ipad. For us and our needs it was perfect and for people who need something for similar reasons (or people on a restricted budget) I highly recommend it. Keep in mind that it will not perform like the latest Apple or Windows based laptop. It does move slower and is lower quality but considering cost and value, you get what you pay for which is why I say this laptop is a good purchase for me. Personally, I have another much higher quality desktop so I'm fine with this as an inexpensive travel laptop. I would not buy this Acer as an only computer or main computer but like I said above if you have a restricted budget and really need a laptop this one can get the job done. I also think it would be a good first computer for children or teens who need to do online work while traveling (like mine). Also, for those who are interested, it is about the size and thickness of the first iPad. It may weigh less than the first iPad.

For the money, a good buy
||Posted .The first few days I had my Acer E-11, I was pleasantly pleased, but then the cursor started freezing and for some reason I was losing work. I determined that the touch pad was faulty and returned it to Bestbuy's Geek squad who expedited it back to Acer. It was fixed and returned in a timely(5-6 days) manner with no cost to me and I'm using it to write this review. Starts up fast. Bright screen and can be used in daylight. Full sized keyboard with good feel.and layout. Power cord plugs into the back, a good feature. Very thin and light. WIFI reception and transmission seems good. I'm 100 ft, away from the router and in another building experiencing good results. Cursor is to sensitive, but maybe that can be adjusted(?). Handles video/YouTube/Vimeo well. Battery lasts a good 4+ hours with 'Balanced' power setting. And, I have already recommended it to friends and family resulting in several purchases in the past several weeks. I would buy again. Thanks Acer and BB. I gave it 4 stars, but it should have been 4&3/4's stars, and only because I had to return it for repair.

Very portable
||Posted .This laptop is very portable and easy to carry around. It's flexibility and color are its attraction. The easy assessment of the wide range of Internet based contents makes the built in wireless LAN an envy. This Acer Asper is a beauty to behold and very innovative

Great computer for decent price
||Posted .I had to upgrade after having a VAIO for many years. I searched for a decent priced laptop mainly looking at chromebooks. I decided I would much rather have this laptop because you can save things easier, it has much more storage, and other features. I've used it for a few months now. I really like it. It's not as cool or advanced as a really expensive computer. However, it's great for what it is. I'd say don't worry about it being windows 8 because you can use it like windows vista or xp if you just stay on the desktop screen and do not navigate to the apps screen. The space key does stick occasionally, but not enough to be a major issue.

Why buy a virtual drive when you can buy a real...
||Posted .So, I am a Mac user, and needed to run the Windows version of Microsoft Office's Excel (it has an extra statistics suite I needed). To do this, I could have gotten a virtual operating system runner, which would be that program + the windows OS + Microsoft Office... But I chose to just get this cheap laptop with everything installed. When I tallied up the two alternatives' costs, I saved $30 pretax by purchasing this computer. It's got pretty mediocre load times, but thank goodness Acer sells computers at this price point. If you disable everything, this is a pretty solid computer for non-gamers (or non-intense gamers.)

Q: QuestionCan you play Sims 2 Ultimate Collection on this laptop?I am trying to find a laptop to play older Windows games like Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, Viva Piñata, Zoo Tycoon 2, Spore, Harry Potter, and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Platinum. I know for some of these, I will need to buy a DVD drive, but I just need to know if this laptop can actually handle playing these games.
Asked by Elf67.
- A:Answer Don't know what the demand of those games are, but when they say it doesn't play games, they mean it. Froze up the first time my 8th grade son tried to download a game. Brought it back the next day. Go to Best Buy's online outlet, Cowboom, and for the same money, get a MUCH better computer.
