Mind Bending!!
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed. To say that I’m a Sci-Fi buff is an understatement. Having said this, this film is unlike anything I’ve seen in this genre. The 4k version is splendid especially on an OLED, I have the LG C8. The acting is very good and the movie clocks in 2hrs 5 min but I actually wish it were longer I love to watch films and then compare notes with my coworkers because there a lot of things in this one that seem defy certain logic (even Spock ) wood agree with me! Lol! But I picked it up at Best Buy for $13 bucks how could I turn that down! The reason for the 5 stars is because I’ve never anything quite like this!

Fantastic movie
|Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I thought this was a great movie. Some say it was ‘ boring’ but I didn’t feel it was. Brad Pitt did a exceptional job on it. The ending may have been anti climatic, but overall it’s a well done movie.

Packaging is a Joke
|Posted .It's a shame, the sham packaging provided this "Ultimate Collector's Edition" Disk set. The case for this "Collector's Edition" is a flimsy paper wrapper glued to the barest plastic case. Regency publisher would have done better simply sticking the disk in a cardboard sleeve. It might last longer. In a world of streaming, people buy DVD's (SD, HD, UHD) as collectibles. Some people make the argument that the non-compressed audio of DVD's sounds better than their streamed counterpart, that's an ongoing debate. Certainly, if you live in a rural area, poor bandwidth may dictate hardcopy as a better source. DVD's are dying, and putting them in the cheapest packaging won't change that. At least, if Regent tried living up to the "Collector's Edition" package label, there might be a market that will actually continue to buy hard copy - because some want that "collection"

Excellent audio quality 4k movie
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Ad Astra has a really nicely rendered Dolby Atmos track, a listening experience that takes the already excellent DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track on the 1080p Blu-ray and (literally) elevates it. From the opening hum and pulse effects that underlie some of the production mastheads, there's a clear vertical presence, something that really kind of bursts with considerable energy once Roy steps outside on the space antenna and the power surge occurs. There's consistent engagement of the Atmos channels in the many flight sequences, and this track duplicates the very powerful LFE that the DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track offered in terms of some of the thrusters utilized during takeoffs and landings. Max Richter's score sounds great here as well, and all dialogue is rendered without any problems. We've gotten spoiled with a lot of really fine sound mixing in big sci-fi epics, but this Atmos track is another reminder of how much fun well mixed and designed audio can add to a movie going experience.

We're alone and that's okay.
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.More like a sci-fi tone poem, Ad Astra achieves the goal of showing our (small) place in the overall universe while simultaneously illustrating our large propensity for self-destruction. Excellent video and audio quality. A quiet film with ambience and heft where it counts.

Review Ad Astra
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendInteresting movie with Brad Pitt going out into space looking for his father who was also a famous pioneer astronaut who some how has set into motion a cascade of events affecting earth. The movie at the times moves back and forth in time but does move forward enough to keep up with major plot Brad getting to his father. Some good special effects but does lack some background on Brads wife and family who have very little speaking part.

Well done drama
|Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendThis is a very well acted film and more of a "thinking man's" sci-fi flick ala 2001 than an action packed Star Wars type of fantasy. Not that there aren't action sequences or tense moments but this film tries to stay more grounded in reality as best it can. View it more as a drama about a father/son relationship than a space opera and you may enjoy it more. I think people's incorrect expectations caused some of the films more negative responses.
