- A: AnswerJay; I stopped by the Best Buy store in Garland (Tx) on Wednesday afternoon (Nov 27, 2024) and was looking at the new Apple M4 mini they had on-display. I had 'The Maltese Falcon' (classic black-and-white movie) playing on the M4 mini (streaming off Tubi TV using the Safari Web Browser) and it looked great on the Apple monitor. I suspect that the problem you're having involves High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection ('HDCP'). See Apple's comments at : https://support.apple.com/en-us/108928 The new M4 mini, running macOS 15.1 ('Sequoia'), will be capable of streaming HDCP protected video but it will need to be connected to a monitor that is HDCP compliant. - Paul

- A: AnswerNot sure how BestBuy does it, but I moved from an iMac to the Mac mini. I used an external USB harddrive to do a backup using the Time Machine on the iMac. When I got the mini, I connected the USB drive and told the mini to perform the transfer from the Time Machine backup. The OS did all the work.

Q: QuestionDoes this Mac Mini work on WiFi or it has to be connected using Ethernet cord?(5 answers)
A: AnswerYes, It will work with either or both.Answered by MaytagMicrowave
- A: AnswerYes you can use any monitors, mice and keyboards. You may need a Thunderbolt/USB C 4 adapter but you can always just use HDMI for the monitor. The other peripherals may require a USB C mini hub too hook them up. As to your final question... No it has 256GB of storage... but again, you can pickup an external TB/USB external SSD for storage expansion.

- A: AnswerThey do have adapters that convert USB to USB C. I believe they have them at Best Buy for around $10 for a pair of them. Or you can easily find them on Amazon etc.

The mighty mini
I decided to replace my MacBook Air with this and a 13" iPad and I'm really glad that I did. I've been a Mac Mini fan for years, but grew tired of the old design. When I saw this new one, I immediately snapped one up. I love the small footprint, the plethora of USB-C and Thunderbolt ports and the power of the M4 and 16 gigs of RAM. At this price point, the Mac Mini is an absolute bargain. It's super quiet, blazing fast, and will last for years. I do not care that the power button is on bottom, I put mine to sleep and rarely turn it on anyway.

Great value for the money.
Its fast and small offering great performance for the price. The built in speakers are pretty good despite the size. You need to use an HDMI to thunderbolt (USB type C) for most monitors as a thunderbolt to thunderbolt created issues for me. The monitor would randomly flicker. This problem was solved by getting the correct cable. Not the computers fault. Only comes with power cable no display cable whatsoever. No USB ports only thunderbolt so be sure to buy adapter cable if your not intending to use an apple mouse and keyboard or USB type c mouse and keyboard. You can also play lower end/ older games decently well. This is a great computer. I would recommend it to someone who enjoys the mac OS over windows but doesnt want to pay macbook prices.

Absolutely the best Apple product of 2024
This is my first non laptop Apple computer. I used a Macbook for years, it was all I needed at the time. I never considered the older Mini, either the Intel based or M1/2 based ones, they were ok for what they were but they lacked normal priced upgrade options...seriously $200 for 256GB of additional storage is nuts! This new one still suffers from Apples delusional upgrade pricing, but they at least start you off with more ram (16GB) instead of a measly 8GB, and the M4 chip in the base model is plenty powerful enough for even heavy editing work. I got around the idiotic upgrade pricing for the storage by adding a Thunderbolt 4 external enclosure (around $50) and added my own 4TB NVMe ssd from Crucial. It's VERY fast storage, you wont miss having overpaid for it internally at all. The size is truly tiny, like palm of your hand tiny, and it's not getting too hot in my pretty hard usage of it today, I'm really impressed with that last part. All told, if you are in the Apple ecosystem, or even if you want to break into it, this is the lowest cost device they sell to allow you to have a truly powerful desktop at your disposal. Apple hit it out of the park with this one, if you're on the fence, hop over to the dark side and give this puppy a try out, you will not be disappointed!
