Synopsis

Batman Forever
Director Joel Schumacher inherited the Batman franchise from Tim Burton and began steering it in the campier direction of the Sixties television show with this third installment. First-time Batman/Bruce Wayne (Val Kilmer), in his only outing as the Caped Crusader, is effectively brooding as he ponders strange dreams about his parents' death and escapes his own near-demise at the hands of Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones), a former district attorney driven insane and turned into a master criminal when a gangster throws acid in his face. Meanwhile, as sexy psychologist Chase Meridian (Nicole Kidman) tries to analyze and seduce both Bruce Wayne and Batman, Wayne Enterprises employee Edward Nygma (Jim Carrey) reacts badly to getting fired, using his self-invented mind-energy device to transform into the super-intelligent Riddler. The Riddler teams up with Two-Face to bring down Batman and drain the minds of Gotham City residents with his device, while Batman gets some much-needed help in the form of circus performer Dick Grayson (Chris O'Donnell), out for vengeance after being orphaned by Two-Face. ~ Don Kaye, Rovi

    Fun, But Not Particularly Memorable

While I loved Tim Burton's initial installment of the Batman film franchise, I cringed at "Batman Returns". Hence, I was a bit skeptical to view "Batman Forever", although I was a bit relieved that Burton wasn't directing it. I must admit that I enjoyed "Forever" more than "Returns", although it's still a bit off-the-wall and crazy. Even so, it still has its highlights. It's nice to see the presence of Robin for a good part of the film. Val Kilmer definitely fits the personna of Bruce Wayne better than Michael Keaton, and Jim Carrey is incredibly fun as the Riddler. The movie even has some deeper movements, almost foreshadowing the elements of "Batman Begins" as Bruce explores and confronts the haunting memories of his parents' deaths. Overall, it's not a bad flick, especially not for those who want a Batman movie that's fun and simple. If that's your thing, then "Batman Forever" is for you.

Old Movie + New Remastering Tech = Average+ Exper.

When you make a purchase like this, you have to keep in mind that you're buying an old movie - shot with old technology - that's been "remastered" with new technology to be displayed in a pseudo-HD. Colors are a little brighter and picture is a little sharper, but if you watched this Blu Ray on an HDTV alongside another Blu Ray - say, "The Dark Knight Returns" - you could and would be able to tell the difference in presentation right away. If you're converting a movie library from DVD to Blu Ray (like I am), this is a affordable & acceptable product to include. Just don't expect to be wowed.

Batman Forever is good but could've been better. Val Kilmer is decent as Batman but not as good as Michael Keaton. He has the worst Batman costume, nipples on the costume. It's cool to bring in Robin. Tommy Lee Jones blows at being Two-Face, he made the character laughable. Jim Carrey, not bad when it comes to being the Riddler. After Batman Returns, this is where the movies lost the feel of Tim Burton.

Not as good as the first two

A disappointment that Michael Keaton wasn't back as the Batman, but with Val Kilmer as the Batman, it wasn't that bad. The set design was more comical than the first two, but I guess they changed it because of Jim Carey. Mr. Carey was brilliant as the Riddler and with the twirling kane he had, he showed that he could taking a little bit serious in roles. Now Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Faced, he stole this movie from everyone else.

this is the 2nd batman film to star Mr. Keaton as batman and I wish he had done the other two as well. that is not to say val and clooney did bad jobs of it, because they also did great with the role. It is just the movies would have felt more connected together if Keaton had continued with the role. As for the Movie itself, It has star studded cast from devito as the penguin to phifer as catwoman.

I think that "Batman Forever" was one of the greatest Batman films of all-time and it was also one of my favorite Batman films of all-time. I also think that all of the Batman films have a lot of entertaining and enjoyable action, mystery, suspense and drama including really great and amazing casts and personal storylines as well.

This movie is just decent if all you want is a good Sunday movie to watch with your friends , if you expect anything more you will be very dissapointed , i am giving it a 3 star rating instead of a 2 only because of Jim Carrey´s acting as the Riddler , aside from that the whole movie feels above average even for a superhero movie standard . Overall the movie gets a 5.6 in my book

I saw this movie when I 12 yrs old which I think was the perfect age. I loved this movie because it was BATMAN! The movie landscape was alot different than it is now. Super Hero movies weren't so serious but I agree this movie took cheese to a whole new level.
