Fantastic choice for Dragon Dictation!
||Posted .Compared to just a few years ago, dictation software has vastly improved (especially on the Mac). After a horrible experience 3 years ago, I decided to give it a second go when Nuance released the new version of Dragon Professional for Mac. I started out using a cheap headset microphone, but it was uncomfortable and made me feel tethered. After hearing from other Mac users of Dragon, the Blue Yeti came highly recommended and was also "officially" supported by Nuance. While $130 initially felt a bit pricey, after getting my hands on it and using it for a few weeks I consider it to be an absolute steal for the price. This mic is a legitimate professional mic that can used in so many different ways - Podcasts, Skype / FaceTime, Google Hangouts, GarageBand, YouTube Blogs, conference calls, and dictation just to name a few. Initially I thought I would have to have the mic sitting pretty close while I dictated, but I just leave it sitting next to monitor facing towards me at an angle. Despite being nearly 2 feet away, it performed leaps and bounds better than the original plastic headset mic I used initially (which sat about an inch away from my mouth). The Yetti is nearly perfect, but I do have 1 major complaint. I really wish it had an on/off switch because if you leave it plugged into your computer, it has a red LED that is constantly lit up (if it is muted the LED will blink). The only way to turn it off is to unplug it which can be inconvenient. However, I ended up just buying a cheap $7 USB adapter that has an off/on power button so I can leave the microphone plugged in and just press the button on the adapter when I need to use it. Despite this one drawback, I still give it 5/5 stars and my full recommendation!

Great for all entry level and semi professional
||Posted .I am a tech enthusiast gearing up to start a YouTube channel. This was recommended to me by multiple individuals. The three condensers in this mic allow for amazing audio pickup and sensitivity. It probably wouldn't hurt to get a pop filter with this. The overall build of this is solid. This is a quality item being encased in a mix metal body. It looks sharp on the desk. However, the in box mic stand does pick up every tap on the keyboard and thumping on the desk. Other wise no complaints. I use this for voice overs, recording acoustic instruments and to make regular FaceTime, google hangouts and skype calls as well (paired with my Logitech C930e). Being that I use a Mac Pro I also receive and make phone calls using this mic. Note this can be done with any Mac with OSX Yosemite. I highly recommended this mic. Don't wait on it just jump.

One of the best usb microphones that money can buy
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This mic sounds amazing, if you don't know how to edit your voice on programs I highly recommend buying the pop filter with it. Otherwise this mic is amazing, sounds crisp, clear, and you can't hear your background.

Excellent Sound Quality
||Posted .The quality of this mic is impeccable, however it picks up literally everything. If you are looking to use this as a microphone for your computer to stream or do anything other than have short conversations or voice commands then a boom arm is mandatory. The stand it comes with picks up every tap, touch, bump, mouse click, or keyboard stroke that you make. I turned the mic onto cardiod and the gain all the way down and it still picks up my mouse clicks. I have gotten it down to a minimum with some third party programs, but it is still there. This microphone is excellent for recording your voice or sounds that you need for editing, however it might pick up more than you would like.

Clear Mic, Massive Size / Weight
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed.Works great, super clear microphone. It’s a lot bigger than it looks! It’s also very heavy and sturdy. This isn’t something you will ever want to take with you. It’s heavyyyy. Good mic!

Nice sound
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I like the microphone. I gave it a 3 star because the first one I bought maybe 2 months ago was unusable after the port fell out. The 2nd is going fine and I still like it. I got insurance this time.

Q: QuestionWhat is the difference between this one and the condenser one? They look the same but have a 30 dollars price difference.
Asked by eliz.
- A:Answer There are two versions of the Yeti. This one, which has an MSRP of about $139, and the professional model, which has an MSRP of about $249, so I'm not sure which one you're talking about that's only $30 more. Perhaps that's the one which comes with the Assasin's Creed bundle? If so, they are the exact same microphone. The more expensive version has an XLR microphone connection at the very bottom, which allows you to connect to a sound board or pre-amp, like what recording studios use. It bypasses the USB input in this case, and allows the higher end sound equipment to do the analog to digital conversion, rather than the USB input. Additionally, the more expensive mic allows for 192khz/24-bit recording, which is DVD quality. This one is 48knz/16bit, which is only CD quality. Of course, what you're pumping the signal into, is going to have an impact on your final product too, so just because one buys the higher priced mic, doesn't mean they're going to have a better quality recording. Hope that helps explain things a little better because I'm not 100% what mics you were comparing.

Q: QuestionSo, if I have a noisy, old computer (as in, the noise of its internal fan), is there a setting or feature on this microphone that would allow be to record my voice clearly, but NOT the background noise? (The tower is behind my monitor.)
Asked by Samuel.
This question was asked about the related product: Blue Microphones - Blue Yeti Professional Multi-Pattern USB Condenser Microphone
- A:Answer Hi Samuel. I don't want to lead you the wrong way on this, so I'm weary to say an outright "yes". However, there is a volume-in control that allows you to change the amount of pickup. You can basically set it to a scale of "everything in your house" to "just your voice". The lower you set it, the more your voice sounds like that of a person on a radio... you'll have to get closer to the mic, etc. I was really surprised by how easy this plug in play mic was. It really works great. That said, when I'm recording, I ensure that my central air is off and try to make everything as quite as possible, but it really depends what you're doing with it. Final Answer: Try it out - you can always return it if it doesn't work out. Good luck!

Q: QuestionDoes it come with a USB?
Asked by Plzrespond.
This question was asked about the related product: Blue Microphones - Blue Yeti Professional Multi-Pattern USB Condenser Microphone
- A:Answer Someone said this is a micro-USB port. That is NOT correct. The cable, which comes with the Blue Yeti is a mini-USB to USB A cable. That's the small one that is a bit taller than the one that most Android devices use these days, and are not interchangeable.

Q: QuestionWhat do you use to plug this microphone into so you can listen to your playback.
Asked by DownHill.
This question was asked about the related product: Blue Microphones - Blue Yeti Professional Multi-Pattern USB Condenser Microphone
- A:Answer I plug in a headphone jack on the bottom and listen on my headphones. I also have a splitter for up to 4 additional jacks. Otherwise any speakers connected to your computer should work just make sure your mic is muted or you aren't actively listening so that you don't have feedback from the mic hearing itself.
