Blue Microphones - Blue Yeti Professional Multi-Pattern USB Condenser Microphone - Silver

I finally picked this up in July to replace my old headset mic, and I wish I had done it sooner. The Good: - Sound Quality: The difference is night and day. My friends on Discord immediately commented on how much clearer my voice sounded. It has that rich "radio" sound right out of the box without needing to mess with software. - Build: The "Blackout" edition looks super clean on my desk, but be warned—this thing is a tank. It’s heavy and sturdy, so it won’t tip over easily, which I love. - Ease of Use: It really was plug-and-play. The physical mute button on the front is a lifesaver for quick coughs or interruptions (it flashes red when you're muted, so you never accidentally talk to yourself). The "Heads Up": It is very sensitive. It picks up everything. I highly recommend keeping the "Gain" knob (on the back) turned down low and bringing the mic closer to you. Also, make sure you set the pattern to "Cardioid" (the heart symbol) if you're just sitting in front of it, otherwise, it picks up keyboard clicking like crazy. Verdict: For the price, this feels like a piece of professional gear. If you are tired of sounding tinny on calls or streams, this is 100% worth the investment.

Compared to just a few years ago, dictation software has vastly improved (especially on the Mac). After a horrible experience 3 years ago, I decided to give it a second go when Nuance released the new version of Dragon Professional for Mac. I started out using a cheap headset microphone, but it was uncomfortable and made me feel tethered. After hearing from other Mac users of Dragon, the Blue Yeti came highly recommended and was also "officially" supported by Nuance. While $130 initially felt a bit pricey, after getting my hands on it and using it for a few weeks I consider it to be an absolute steal for the price. This mic is a legitimate professional mic that can used in so many different ways - Podcasts, Skype / FaceTime, Google Hangouts, GarageBand, YouTube Blogs, conference calls, and dictation just to name a few. Initially I thought I would have to have the mic sitting pretty close while I dictated, but I just leave it sitting next to monitor facing towards me at an angle. Despite being nearly 2 feet away, it performed leaps and bounds better than the original plastic headset mic I used initially (which sat about an inch away from my mouth). The Yetti is nearly perfect, but I do have 1 major complaint. I really wish it had an on/off switch because if you leave it plugged into your computer, it has a red LED that is constantly lit up (if it is muted the LED will blink). The only way to turn it off is to unplug it which can be inconvenient. However, I ended up just buying a cheap $7 USB adapter that has an off/on power button so I can leave the microphone plugged in and just press the button on the adapter when I need to use it. Despite this one drawback, I still give it 5/5 stars and my full recommendation!

It’s sturdy, easy to use (just plug it in and go), and has helpful features like a mute button and headphone monitoring. The downsides? It’s bulky, picks up background noise if your room isn’t quiet, and the gain knob isn’t perfect. Still, for under $150, it’s one of the best USB mics out there—perfect for beginners or even more serious content creators who aren’t ready to dive into complicated audio setups.

This has to be the best microphone for the money I’ve ever purchased. Recommend to someone who needs great quality, great sound recording functions and who is starting off with podcasting or music recording. For the price you’ll be getting the same as if you paid for another brand that’s $100 dollars more expensive. Never been more happy with a purchase. Oh and it’s the easiest SetUp you can get!

I needed a good quality microphone because I heard my own breathing when I was recording an audio transcript without any extra microphone. The sales staff and the GeekSquad staff at the Best Buy were very, very helpful even though I am such a low-tech person, they were really patient and kind. Using easy words about technology, taking time to explain each detail, and so on. That made me understand about the YETI's quality and purchase it even the price was out of my expectation. The microphone worked so well, and I could finish my work well to satisfy myself. The quality of the products is very important but the salespersons customer care is very, very important as well. I am happy of my experience at the Best Buy in Towson. I appreciate those employees who had helped me.
