Best iPod dock for the money.
Posted .First off, the Zeppelin Mini is gorgeous. From the chrome to the curves this thing couldn't look bad in any room. It connects to your computer via usb for firmware updates and as speaker output. I'd advise doing a firmware update right out of the box and it literally took about a minute. Sound quality: WOW! I'd recommend placing somewhere near a wall or corner for higher bass response if you need it. The Mini produces a very large sound field that will allow you to hear things within music that you've probably never noticed before. I've tried it using Apple Lossless, 320k aac and streaming via MOG from my iPhone. Acoustic music shines as I tested with Adele, Buckethead, Dave Matthews, John Mayer and an acoustic cd from Metric. Vocals jump out of this little box and every instrument is heard as I imagine they were intended to be. I then played some tracks from Anthrax's Worship Music and Metallica's Master of Puppets. This is where it has the edge over other units I've tested. It handled metal and acoustic music very well. When it was time to test out bass response I popped in some RUN DMC, Beastie Boys and Jack Johnson. Johnson's music has a ton of low end tones and the Mini passed the bass test with flying colors in my book. It also makes a pretty good little soundbar if you connect your tv out to the aux input on the back of the Mini. Much better than standard tv speakers for sure. The small pebble shaped remote is beautiful and functional, but only has the basic controls of volume, pause/play, track skipping and input. Bottom line: I've compared this to the Bose units as well as iHomes, JVC, JBL and others and it's the winner to my eyes and ears.

A fine iPod (iPhone) docking station.
Posted .This mini performs the best in bedroom, or other small rooms. It is VERY clean and clear. But it can be too bright (not tinny) when it is close to you. Give some distance about 5-15ft. to treble be diffused, and fairly close from back wall, so bass can be gained. Compared to Zeppelin, it's cleaner and crispier, but not rich and deep as original. Comparing with original Zeppelin is Mustang Cobra vs Mustang V6. You get the point. Sounds cleaner than Bose sound dock, but Bose is sounds little bigger. Do not buy if you are going to listen to HipHop or Rap. Beats by Dr. Dre will be better. B&W speakers perform well in acoustic music. Docking the iPod (iPhone) sounds better than using 3.5mm jack because using Mini's DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) gives wider soundstage, more dynamic, and better instrument seperation. It can be used with Apple Airport Express (not iPhone 3G), but the downside is, it can be used with 3.5mm connection only. And it will give about 2 sec. delay.

Full room pleasing stero sound.
Posted .I purchased an Ipod for my wife which we hardly used until I purchased the B&W Zeppelin mini. The sound produced by the modern looking, extremely small footprint device is unbelievable. Now we have music playing whenever we are home. You must hear the music to truely believe that such a small speaker can produce such full rich sound. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who enjoys good sounding music. It looks really good just sitting on the living room table as well.
