Breville - ikon Hemisphere Blender - Stainless-Steel

I bought the product and did not use it right away, as I travel. I got home and went to make a smoothie. This was the first time use of the product. It leaked (and yes the base was tight) and the motor smelled as though it was burning. By far the best thing about this purchase was how understanding and great Best Buy was in the transaction.

When I purchased my Breville ikon Hemisphere blender about a year ago, I had used several different brands but all had either burned out or failed after a few months of mixing my morning breakfast protein shakes. The sales associate at my local BestBuy heard my lament and recommended this Breville blender, telling me "this is the last blender you will ever buy." Well, he should have said this is the last Breville blender you will ever buy, after only a few weeks all four of the fins on the bottom of the jar broke off, and since one of them is needed to press the actuator on the side of the blender base, the blender was rendered unusable until the jar could be replaced. I immediately contacted Breville warranty support, and they replaced my jar but it took three months to receive the replacement. Sadly, after getting the replacement I discovered that the gasket on the jar bottom does not work, so each time I blend anything there is about 1/8-1/4 cup of liquid in the top of the base of the blender, requiring extensive cleaning. All efforts to resolve this problem have failed. I shall not contact warranty support again as they apparently have a very inferior product. Be warned, this is pure junk and a waste of both my money and time.

Purchased in 2007 and really loved it. Best blender I have ever owned... hands down. I have used it about 16 times since then and my blender is now out of warranty. Last month, the carafe chipped pretty badly while I was washing it and you can't buy a replacement from Breville. I continued to use the blender until tonight when my wife powered it up and it electronically failed when she selected a speed. After half a dozen other blenders this was my favorite and I can't possibly express my disappointment in the workmanship of this product. There are now similar results on the Consumer Reports web site in large numbers... stay away! Breville: Never again.

Honestly, I use this blender daily. Every morning I blend frozen fruit like it's butter. This blender uses a ramping program that will chew through just about anything, leaving you with a perfectly blended smoothy every time. The Ikon is very well built, and will impress all users. Try it once and you'll never go back.
