Like razors and razor blades, in ain't the razor that is expensive it's the blades. I have a log running anger at the cost of ink cartridges. If one has only moderate printing use then most people can live with the cost. If, on the other hand, you do a more than a moderate amount of printing, or need hard copies to preserve content for an extended period of time---say for posterity or one's grandchildren---or if there is a need to print photos or color content, then suddenly the cost of $100---$150 printer is amplified to an annual cost level that broaches exasperation. Or....downright expensive. There was a time when Costco offered a reasonably priced refill plan. There was also a time when one could purchase refill kits for the do-it-yourselfers. That cut the printing costs by as much as five times less. Ah, but Canon programmed its new cartridges to not respond to refills. So one has to buy and buy and buy and look for on-line deals or wait for Best Buy to put them on special sale. (Best Buy is the cheapest place to purchase inkjet cartridges.). So....Yes. Canon makes a good inkjet printer and separate cartridge, and Best Buy is my preferred purveyor but it's death by a thousand cuts.

Individual Ink Color Cartridges MAKE SENSE!

Have you ever been stopped when trying to print a black and white document because your ($60 - $90) "Tri-Color" cartridge had one (or more) of its "wells" run dry? I was just sick and tired of this after dealing with expensive "Tri-Color" cartridge headaches for more than a decade. When I first shopped for new printers last year I found that several brands now utilize 4 (or more) separate ink cartidges for "full-color" printing. I bought the Canon PIXMA MG 5420 and have been VERY HAPPY with ALL of its features and capabilities! AND BEST OF ALL ... The individual color ink cartridges are 20 to 30% of the price of a "Tri-Color" or "XL" Black cartridge!!! ... And, So far, I've only had to replace these (3 out of 5 of the NON-XL) cartridges once(!) entering my second year of ownership of my PIXMA 3-in-1 printer. Yeah, I don't print more than a couple of (to no more than a dozen) pages a week, but at least I haven't had to replace ANY cartridges that just plain WENT DRY sitting in an inactive printer!

I needed an air printer to print from all of my iproducts so my husband bought the canon mx920. This printer, unlike my old one uses 5 ink cartridges. that was a bit off-putting, but i really do not spend more on ink than i did before, and i use a lot of this ink. Once I purchased the XL size and to my dismay, it did not last any longer than the regular size. For clarification, I did not purchase the XL from best buy. I bought it online. Now, however, I will just run to best buy to make my ink purchases. The cost runs about the same no matter where I purchase it so... And with best buy rewards, I usually end up paying next to nothing for the ink.

These go with the Canon Pixma MX922 printer-copier-fax machine. This printer is the first I've seen that actually uses two separate black cartridges: one for plain-black text, and one for color productions. The one is available in a standard 250 and larger 251 capacity; the text black has a jumbo 255 size as well. These are also the first printer cartridges I've seen for ink jets that give no expiration date-provided they are unopened, stored at standard temperature, or seated properly in the printer, they should not dry out, fade or otherwise decompose.

I used to do the refills or no-name brands, but had issues with them clogging my head. Granted, this may be due to temperature/environment and/or frequency of printing, I've never really had an issue with OEM cartridges. The downside to this is that I don't think the OEM cartridges print as many pages as the aftermarket, but at least my print head doesn't clog. For an overpriced (because of manufacturer, not the store) brand of ink, it does the job well!

This ink cartridge I have to bought it since I run out of black ink, the replacement in the printer was very easy and I like that the price is very decent. Only thing is that I have to double check the information since the original cartridge in the printer does not have exactly the same information as in this one.

I already had to replace 1 of these in my printer and I went to the store to get the colors. I figured I might as well get this one too but they only had the 2-pack. I got it anyway. During printing it needed one. So, it's gone thru a whole one of these and has just now had to replace the colors and one color isn't even replaced yet. Also the tiny black one hasn't needed replacing. It's confusing but I'm really glad I bought the 2-pack now.

I work from home so I print out quite a bit of material. I have a Canon printer copier scanner all-in-one. What I like about this canon ink cartridge is that it notifies me p.m. my computer when the toner is running low and when and where I can purchase it. The print quality is always great with no smudging or bleeding through the other side of the page. It is the quality you would expect from a much more expensive product.
