Though these ink cartridges are more expensive and don't seem to last quite as long than the ones used in my Pixma 800 series, you really don't have a choice not to buy them. That said, they do produce great color print. Buying the multi-pack can save you money over buying the cartridges separately; however, some cartridges do seem to empty sooner than the others. Unfortunately, the printer manufacturers generally require different size cartridges for each different model. So, when you buy a new model, you may have leftover cartridges that you cannot use.

Cheaper buying the large black separately

I found that it is cheaper to purchase the 250XL separate from the 4 251 inks. It was actually a rather large savings by doing this. But I was told by the store rep that they will not longer be offering them separately and I had to purchase this item at the higher price. Needless to say, the Canon printer goes through quite a bit of ink considering the little bit of printing that I do, so it would have been nice if Best Buy would continue to offer the ink at the lower rate (the separate packages).

The cartridges fit correctly, but they don't seem to last very long. I've also been told by Canon Technical Support that each time the printer is shut off and turned on that it will use ink to lubricate the rollers, and with the trouble I've had with my printer staying connected to the internet (thus shutting it off and on per the technical support guru), this could be part of the problem too. Wouldn't recommend the (Canon MX922) printer, as I've had nothing but trouble with it.

Overall I would not recommend a printer that only takes small tanks such as the Cannon MG7720. That was a mistake I made looking for a multi ink printer knowing they produce better prints. My mistake for not doing some research. The small tanks are more costly up front as well as in the long run. This set of ink tanks is the most inexpensive way to buy them, however. If you are stuck with this printer like me you might as well get the best deal on ink and buy the Special Edition 5-pack ink cartridges at Best Buy.

I don't think anyone can quibble that this ink is preferred for your printer. Maybe "generic" inks will be just as good, but you can't argue they are better. I believe the real debate is whether you're better off buying ink that costs about as much as a new printer would cost. I ultimately decided that I'd rather pay for the ink than a new printer. My well-thought out reason? I was too lazy to (a) set up a new printer, and (b) figure out what to do with my old printer.

I bought this complete set of ink when I purchased the Canon all in one Printer not knowing that the printer had a complete set in the box. Usually the printer only has a limited amount of ink, but this one came with a full set. I have no idea yet how fast it will go thru the ink, but I understand that generic brands work just as good, which is what I will purchase in the future. This ink was $70 and that's a little expensive for a home printer.

This is the second and LAST time I will order ink from Best Buy. If you order the ink directly from canon they will stand behind it. Best Buy will not. Half the ink bled out of the three colors when I ...carefully ...opened them. This has happened before when I ordered from them. I haven't opened the black yet. I will be sure to have gloves on and open it over a trash can.

I needed to buy the set of ink cartridges for my printer. I buy the full set usually. They work well and print quality is excellent. my only complaint is the cost. I think a few ounces of ink should not cost over $20, but that is a manufacture issue. I choose CANON over HP because I've found CANON more reliable. Ink is a killer for either.
