Canon PowerShot SX740 HS 20.3-Megapixel Digital Camera
I love how this camera can give a professional picture with a small case. It is everything I hoped for. Frames per second gives great pictures for baseball as well. I took a picture of the moon one evening that totally made it worthwhile.
I was looking for a small handheld camera to take on adventures, with out having to lug around my canon 5D mark iii, as it’s way to heavy. This camera reminded me of a mini 5D with WiFi, the quality is by far better than I imagined. See my test shot of the moon standing in my living room last night, taken on auto mod. then I zoomed in & wow the photo speaks for itself. The WiFi set up with my iPhone 11 pro was very easy to set up & I love the easy access to transfer photos from the camera to the phone. I highly recommend regardless if you have any experience or not this camera will have you shooting photos like a pro.
I bought this camera ahead of a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. Back in the day, I used a film SLR, digital SLR, and eventually a Canon SX10IS. For personal reasons, I didn't want to bring something even that big along. I'm SO happy I didn't! The zoom on this baby is incredible! Quick video! So light, and intuitive to figure out without needing to refer to the quick start guide. And my pictures and videos were AWESOME! My dad, who fancies himself a semi-pro, and carried all of his big gear and lenses around, was a wee bit envious of how quickly I could get a shot just as good, if not BETTER than his! I think my zoom was better than anything he had with him! ;)
*I loved*: size, weight, instructions on screen for various features, movable screen (to see better in glare situations, or for selfies!)
*Meh*: wrist strap is so long that it's practically non-functional (I had to swap with another device I had for fear of dropping camera), screen location seems like it might get scratched and camera is hard to hold without getting your fingers all over it (my SX10IS has a screen that opens up + a viewfinder), wi-fi capabilities are quite cumbersome/slow and I haven't found a way to send just one photo instead of dumping them all (Admittedly, I have not yet paired my smartphone with the camera, so maybe that's different.)
Overall, it was an important part of my wonderful vacation, and I'm looking forward to continuing to use it in my everyday creative life!
I’ve owned several Canon PowerShot cameras over the past decade-plus. Canon has perfected many elements of this model over the years with these newer iterations. The optical zoom for bird and other nature photography has been great!
Extremely excellent point and shoot for the price. Takes quality shots, the zoom is amazing, the 4k video is such a plus I'm very happy with this I wanted to start my photography journey with this point and shoot then move up to Dslr, Icle or mirrorless but also wanted a quality in my pocket quick point and shoot I got that and more with this camera I'm very pleased. As a beginner I'm already taking some great shots with this point and shoot.
I bought this camera the day before I went on my Alaska cruise/land trip. I learned to use it overnight, used it for the whole vacation for both stills and video and it was very easy.
I had some trouble using the uploading to my cell phone to get the photos on the cloud but I dont blame the camera. I was not doing it right.
I easily used the SDcard to download to my laptop later.
The camera was often used 1 handed. Fast shots were clear and I am thrilled with the photos and video.
Bought camera for trip to Africa. Camera gets great pictures using optical zoom and good pics using digital zoom. I got many of the best pictures in my group with others using full size DSLRs. Auto focus can be slow at times in the video mode. Using a small tripod stick helped steady the small camera on long shots.

Although we'd love to see an optical viewfinder, touch screen and Raw options, the SX740 HS will meet most people's needs for a compact superzoom camera. Importantly, the lens's broad focal range opens up a whole new world to those who have beenFull Review
The Canon PowerShot SX740 travel superzoom may look very similar to its predecessor, the SX730, however there are significant upgrades under the hood. The SX740 gets Canon's latest DIGIC 8 image processor (the SX730 had a DIGIC 6 chip), whichFull Review
A:AnswerI think its excellent for vlogging as long as your not in windy weather because then it takes long for the camera to focus but other than that the camera is awesome I use it to record sports to make highlights
A:AnswerNo issues with my camera. I absolutely love it & I’m covered under Best Buy warranty if something happens. I can take it back & get a new one or put my money towards another camera. Amazon maybe cheaper but u will only get 30 days with them. Hope this helps
A:AnswerMake sure you have the Canon Camera Connect app on your phone. Make sure both the phone and camera are connected to the same WiFi network. Once this is done, push the WiFi connect button on the camera. It will then search for devices. Once it discovers it, you select it and name it. From that point on it will automatically recognize your phone. It works great once it is connected. However, if your phone goes to sleep while connected, it will disconnect with the camera. The app MUST be open on your phone the whole time you are using it.
