Welcome to the PowerShot V1, a powerful video-first camera with all the features you are looking for content creation, in an all-in-one design. This new sleek design features an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens, advanced autofocus, a built-in cooling fan, and impressive stabilization. The PowerShot V1 will let you focus on your creativity without worrying about time limits getting in the way of your videos.

  • The lens: The PowerShot V1 is equipped with an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that is equivalent to a 17-52mm lens for Full Frame cameras (16-50mm when taking still photos) with an aperture range of F2.8-11 at the wide-angle setting, making it ideal for vlogging without the worry about changing lenses. A built-in 3-stop ND filter is available, for bright outdoor lighting conditions, so you are ready to shoot, wherever you are.
  • Get Up Close: Capture subjects in large detail by focusing down to 5.9 inches. This enables richly expressive close-up shots using the wide angle of view and bokeh that a wide-angle lens can provide.
  • The sensor: Larger than the sensors typically found on compact cameras, the newly designed 1.4-type CMOS sensor, has 22.3 megapixels for still images (18.7 megapixels for video), giving you enhanced image quality which provides a shallower depth of field, better light performance, improved Dynamic Range and greater ISO performance.
  • Keeping it cool: The PowerShot V1 features a cooling fan to keep internal components frm getting too hot, allowing for unlimited continuous shooting at 4K60P. The fan pulls heat from the sensor and vents it out the side to prevent overheating, which extends recording times and ensures consistency during long shoots.
  • Video: This camera is focused on the video content creator, and it shows with oversampled and uncropped options for both 1080 and 4K30 for enhanced sharpness and detail. It also offers cropped 4K60, providing clarity and smoothness of 4K resolution at 60fps, with an approximate crop factor of 1.4x. For more advanced users, the PowerShot V1 also has Canon Log 3, allowing you to record movies with a wide dynamic range and 10-bit color depth, starting at a base speed of ISO 800.
  • Shooting modes: Since this camera was created around the idea of capturing video, it comes with some unique features that enhance your creations. Let’s start with a close-up movie mode for displaying small objects (which the dual pixel AF II will lock onto. Of course you also have Movie IS to reduce camera shake for clear videos, and Smooth Skin Movie. You can also use the standard choices of full-auto, full manual operation, and Shutter- or Aperture-priority exposure.
  • Keep it steady: Your videos will look even more professional with both lens optical IS and Movie digital IS functions from our EOS mirrorless cameras, working separately or together to provide fantastic image stabilization. Even if you're walking while shooting, your footage will look natural and steady. We’ve also introduced Subject Tracking Image Stabilization, which prioritizes stabilization at the subject’s location when it’s off-center.
  • Selfie Service: Chances are that you will be capturing a lot of yourself, so we have included features to make that experience even better, like a flip out LCD so you can see yourself in front of the camera. A tally light has been added to the front of the camera so you know when it is recording. Even the grip has been redesigned to be better held from the front utilizing your thumb for stability and to control the tilt. Everything you need to make yourself look great!
  • The right connections: This camera also offers fabulous connectivity so that you can capture and share yourcreative endeavors effortlessly. With Bluetooth you can connect to your smartphone to use it as a wireless remote control for capturing images even in continuous shooting modes. The PowerShot V1 also supports Full HD streaming over USB and wireless LAN, perfect for video calls or live streaming.
  • Live Switcher Mobile: Just install the app and connect your smartphone wirelessly, and you can live stream while switching between up to three cameras. Mighty little camera!!

My selling point for this camera was one of Peter McKinnon’s videos where he showcased this camera and could see a real world test and I’m very pleased to say it did go beyond expectations. The internal ND filter, the 17mm equivalent lens and CLOG3 10bit recording made this a standout and clear winner among compact point and shoot style cameras. Also the included dead cat that covers the internal mic is a very simple but effective feature towards getting clear and crisp audio. Go ahead and buy this mightly little camera perfect for vlogging, traveling and capturing family moments, you won’t be dissapointed!

    Perfect "Grab and Go" Camera

This is a GREAT little camera! I have a Canon R5 and I wanted something I could grab and go for vlogging and general photography and videography without having to grab my entire full frame kit and lenses. I have played with it for the past week, and I love it more each day. I throw it in my pocket with an extra battery and I find myself filming more because I had it with me. It works for photography as well but you need to realize what this is. Its not a full frame powerhouse but a grab and go alternative. Love the control ring on the front lens and I can connect my Rode mic on the shoe on the top and it feels good in the hand. For the price point, I don't think you can go wrong! Especially if you wanted a vacation camera that doesn't take up a bunch of space.

    Disappointed, Never got the Camera

This rating is for Best Buy. If I could rate zero stars I would. I was afraid because at the time of writing this, I saw two other reviews stating they never recieved the camera, now I am the third person that has not recieved my camera. UPS took a bogus photo for proof of delivery, UPS stated the merchant blocked for any claims to be made. I contacted Best Buy support, since the camera was sold out they said they would do an investigation to see if I can be elligible for a refund. Investigation has concluded and got deemed not elligible. The worst experience ever.
