I sold all of my previous flashes and bought these. Previous flashes include Canon's 580exII, 580ex, and 430exII. The Good: First off, if you're a Strobist or an off-camera speedlighter, sell everything you own and get these. The RF signaling system and fully independent group controls right from your master device will change everything for you. Already using RadioPoppers or a PocketWizard FlexTT system? Welcome to a new world of reliability, simple setup, and battery life. Going into "Gr" mode on the master flash, I can independently tell up to five different groups to operate in full eTTL mode (plus adjust each group's FEC) OR shift one, some, or all groups into M mode with full power controls on each group. I do this right from the flash itself, or from the screen on my 5d mark III.

I owned a smaller Canon speed light and an off brand speed light before this one, and I feel so much more confident as a semi professional for events and photoshoots with this speed light. I used it at a wedding reception with very high ceilings where I wasn't able to bounce light off anywhere and simply used the white card attached to it, and photos came out great when using the Canon 5D Mark III and Canon 70-200 lens I rented. I also love that I can have my other speed lights as slaves to this one. I am still learning about off camera flash and this makes it possible to at least be able to have that option while I'm still learning.

I needed a last minute flash and best buy came through with this baby on sale. Be sure to use strong batteries because it trains batteries faster than the basic canon flash of course but it added a lot of light to the location that was lacking in light. Be sure to get some practice using it to learn the different settings prior to doing a big event with it. I was only comfortable because my sister had taught me to use hers years previously.

First off, I am somewhere in between amateur and professional. I freelance with a fairly decent Canon DSLR. That being said, I don't use flash all to often, so I prefer it to be as easy as possible. This flash comes out of the box set to auto. All that is required to do is move the head around depending on the situation. If you are the type of shooter that likes to have all the manual controls, this will still satisfy. Many a settings are available to manual shooters to customize.

This flash turned out to be a great purchase for me. I have been telling myself i need a strobe for my photography but have always put it off. When i decided to take a gig and shoot my friends wedding, it was a must have. It helped, even in a bright setting, to balance out the shadows that the sun was throwing. Aside from the price (which is common among strobes) it is a great item to have!

I was lead to believe this flash synced with the ST E3-RT transmitter and 600EX-RT speedlite but after 4 hours of trying I was still unable to link with either item in any configuration. Disappointing. Manual is poorly written. Companies need to stop taking a page out of the Ikea instruction hand book and give real instructions. Customer Service is a joke as well. Canon website says tech support is open from 10AM to 6PM EST but when you call you get a message that tech support is closed. UGH! Should have gone with an aftermarket brand.

This flash has all the features... is lighter than the 600 series and much more feature oriented than the cheaper flashes. It’s light weight and easy to use. Only con is the ir doesn’t work well across well lit areas.... so shooting people in the shade outside from an area out of the shade where the flash is a slave (also in the shade) can be problematic... this flash also supports rf so if you have a transmitter then this won’t be an issue.

I wanted a full-featured flash for my Canon T7i that I could learn and grow with that was specifically made for and by Canon. I have used aftermarket flashes with other cameras in the past but was never sure that my experience (or lack of-) was to blame for some failures or the flash itself. Now I can eliminate the compatibility issue and learn from my mistakes.
