Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didnt expect it to work as well as it did dur to price but i was proven wrong quick! This thing is powerful and with the right eye pieces is perfect for home viewing of anything an amateur could think of to look at. I was viewing from the box to my back yard in 30 min. Very easy set up. Just make sure to update first.

Fantastic telescope with great views
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fantastic option for beginners, with features that let you view thousands of celestial objects. The catadiatropic system gives you the best of both deep space and near-Earth viewing. Even though it is on the expensive side for a beginner, it allows one to appreciate the beauty of our universe. I would highly recommend getting more eyepieces and filters to get the most out of this telescope.

Great telescope for an amateur
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this as our first telescope as a family Christmas gift. Absolutely love it! It is something that the entire family has enjoyed using even on winter nights...looking forward to warmer temps for more comfortable viewing! Setup was easy and it has offered great viewing and pictures of the moon using the telescope lens as the camera lens on my Canon EOS. Looking forward to trying to capture a planet with a stronger lens attached.

Simply Awesome
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been interested in Astronomy for awhile, but only had a very cheap telescope. I decided that I wanted to step up to a more serious scope with GoTo capability, but didn't want to spend a fortune. This scope was the perfect fit. Its super easy to get it aligned and you'll be "slewing" to planets and nebula in no time. No problems making out the cloud bands on Jupiter or viewing the Orion Nebula. Fantastic views of the moon as well. Only complaint was that at this price, they really should include an AC Adapter (I knew it didn't have it going in). It will chew through batteries like no ones business, so make sure to get the adapter if you plan on using it for an extended amount of time.

Very nice telescope for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very nice telescope for the price. After seeing the lower price i decided to buy this telescope. I have always wanted to own a maksutov or a schmidt cassegain telescope. And at this price it was definitely a good buy for a new telescope with this type of optics. So on to the features of this telescope it has amazing views of Jupiter and Saturn. I have yet to view the moon because of it being a new moon, as of writing this. I was also able to view the orion nebula and it looked ok. Keep in mind this is a 4 inch telescope so you are best to view planets and the moon with this telescope. Unfortunately in the world of telescopes you, if your serious like me, need 2 telescopes one being a planetary telescope, such as this one, then a reflector telescope to pull more light in to get those great views of deep sky objects. Now lets talk about the skyalign feature, because this is where this telescope really shines. Skyalign is very nice to use because you dont need to know anything about the stars. You simply follow the directions on the keypad and away you go. The only trouble i had was getting the telescope right on the target that i wanted to look at, but it was very close. All I had to do was move right and down a few degrees. Im sure with time i will get it figured out. Also the quaility is spot on with this telescope. It has a nice sturdy mount and the telescope is built nice also. There are some plastic parts but nothing that takes away the quality of this telescope. You also get a nice 25mm plossl eyepiece with this telescope this seems to be very rare these days as most companies have started giving cheaper eyepieces with their telescopes. Even celestron gives out cheaper eyepieces with most of their refractor telescopes. Lastly if i were going to recommend any accessories i would recommend some type of power source for this telescope because 8AA batteries will not last long in this telescope because it does alot of moving around from target to target which will drain the batteries after a couple to three times of use. Buying batteries over and over will get expensive!

Q: QuestionI had a telescope over 20 years ago. It was listed at 100 Power - images 100 times larger. I noticed that the power specification is not listed on this or other telescopes. What is the power of this telescope?
Asked by TommyJC.
- A:Answer The NexStar 4SE's highest useful magnification under ideal seeing conditions is 241x. The rule of thumb is you multiply the aperture 4.02" x 60 = 241x. The supplied 25mm eyepiece will provide 53x (1325mm focal focal length divided by 25mm eyepiece focal length).

Q: Questiondoes it a PC INTERFACE
Asked by JIM.
- A:Answer No, but you can attach Celestron's SkyPortal WiFi Module to the NexStar 4SE's AUX port to align and control your telescope wirelessly using your smartphone or tablet while using the free SkyPortal App. The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Sincerely, Garrett at Celestron

Q: Questionis this Celetron 4se scope a reflector
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Good afternoon, The NexStar 4se is a telescope model known as a Maksutov. Although it gathers light with a reflecting mirror in the back of the telescope, it is not a "true" reflector like a Newtonian telescope. The glass in the front of the telescope is a lens called the corrector plate that works in conjunction with the main mirror to form the image, which is reflected from the main mirror to the eyepiece in the rear of the telescope by the silvered spot in the middle of the corrector plate. This combination of corrector, main mirror, and reflective "secondary mirror" allow the NexStar 4se to have a very long focal length while being small and very portable. This allows high-power views of the zMoon and planets with a small telescope. Good luck!

Q: QuestionDoes this find the objects for you
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes, the NexStar 4SE can go-to and track objects. The tripod needs to be level, and the time, date, and location must be entered into the hand control. When conducting the telescope alignment, make sure your alignment objects are spread apart in various sections of the sky. It is important to center the alignment object in the eyepiece field of view.

Q: QuestionI need some clarification on interfacing with a Windows PC. What software do I need on my Windows computer so I can sit in the comfort of my living room and operation the telescope outside on my deck? Thank you...
Asked by GaryL.
- A:Answer I would look in to the wifi adapter for the telescope if you want to connect to the computer, it was the easiest way of doing it for me.

Q: QuestionCan this telescope be connected to a small tv or laptop just to be able to see a larger picture with out having to look through the eye piece. For instance, when you have a group of people who want to see the image together.
Asked by jeff.
- A:Answer There are planetary imaging cameras available such as Celestron's NexImage, which are connected to a laptop that shows live views of the moon or brighter planets. NexImage comes with software that allows image capture and stacks the best frames to produce detailed planetary images.
